I moved kexts to Sound subforum, there is a new one with working shutdown:
http://forum.insanel...howtopic=129485

This is same as new0862.zip but with volume control and balance
Attached File  AppleHDA0862.zip   319.94K   219 downloads

This should work for lenovo and all other laptops with muted sound in bios(no sound with Azalia)
Attached File  new0862.zip   340.3K   1880 downloads

This is a new kext for toshiba laptops it is based on 10.5.4 HDA kext, please test it. If you had sound with azalia, this one should work also (because you sound card is unmuted in bios)
Attached File  AppleHDA862_Toshiba.zip   496.27K   1158 downloads

It should give you IntSpeakers and Headphones, and external mic on laptop.
Please post the results here!

For noobs:
1. Download kexts, drag them to extensions folder. (this is not for a patcher, just copy and paste files)

2.And repair permissions
chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/*.kext
chown -R 0:0 /System/Library/Extensions/*.kext
rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.*

3.Restart

Sound should come from speakers, and when you plug the headphones it should switch automaticly

I wonder if this would work on my N200... Should do, even if it needs a devid change for the ICH8 HDA controller, since it's got the same codec and also needs "options snd-hda-intel model=lenovo" with ALSA.

I hope it works(for you), the same problem I had on lenovo c200, but I instaled latest ALSA from CVS source to get a GOOD codec dump.

Is this for PCI device 10ec,0862? I have an ALC862 in my Toshiba laptop and was going to take a shot with this. Azalia currently works for me, but the headphones apparently aren't supported.

It depends on your audio codec dump, if it is a same as for Lenovo then it should work

I updated my bios and installed the two kexts with the new updated Apple.HDA.kext but still have no sound. Where it says "Choose a device for sound output" and I highlight either Headphones or Built-In Speaker, it says "The selected device has no output controls and I'm unable to move the sound slider. I am able to move the output bar for the mic. What could I have done wrong? Thanks for all your hard work.

It seems like the newest bios version is only for models that were preloaded with WinXP. Unfortunately, mine came with vista and 63ET62WW is the latest version available for my laptop :) If you could give me any help in getting my audio working it would really be appreciated. Thx

very interesting.
I now have buit in speakers + headphones working on Toshiba A200-1DR but volume level can't be adjusted.
But at least I can select which output to use !
Mic jack is working too, but volume is adjustable for this one.

looks promising, Taruga did it again !

You should supply some information on the adaptations you made to make this kext work with the 862.  There are a lot of people who don't necessarily have Lenovo laptops who'd love to adapt this to their systems (me included)

Hi, MadTux, This is really a smart way to fix the audio problem. Would you mind posting you current bios version number and your audio subsystem ID (like 0x17aa8e2d) please? I got no luck following ibm guide.

I downloaded bios version 3.12 (63af08us), and used the default ROM file (DL01108A.WPH). But my bios version didn't change after update, which is still version 1.08 (63ET62WW), as RMCL. I 'm curious which ROM file worked with you?

Cheers!

First sorry people, I was busy at colleague.Yes avon, that was my idea. But I had problems with usb keyboard. I didn't have an usb flash disk to test this error. But after I updated the bios with adi rom (you have a realtek too inside other folder), sound did work, but the problem was in usb (because subsystem ID for USB was changed too but it is not working). Every time I used a keyboard, usb discoonnects. So my opinion about this is that we only need to change the subsystem id inside realtek rom file. And I found a couple of pages that are describing how to change ID's inside rom (people are doing this to get there ethernet card working under linux) so I will tray and give a shot to that.So my sound is working now, but I need to use the usb hard disks so I think that I will put the backup rom back.So avon I think it is possible to change only sound ID with editors inside Borg Bios collection.check this:http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showth...6354&page=3

Well am I a :censored2:  idiot or what...

I've been trying for 3 days now to get audio on my Leopard/Lenovo 3000 N100 to work, and then I thought I should google for the specs to the ALC862-VD and then I find this thread!

Installed the updated driver (From the link at the bottom of the post), removed AppleAzaliaAudio.kext, it almost works...

System Preferences>Sound sees the internal speakers and headphones but unfortunately says for both "the selected device has no output controls". The audio input works: plugging a mic in and tapping it produces a reaction in the "Input Level" meter System Preferences>Sound>Input.

My system: Lenovo 3000 N100, BIOS 1.08. Apparently Lenovo has 2 different versions of BIOSes:
  • BIOS v 1.x for Vista-bundled systems
  • BIOS v 2.x for system that came with XP
  • and the BIOS updater program, which at this moment has the version number 3.12!!!
I wonder what the reason for having different BIOSes for different Windowses. We
l my system came with FreeDOS (actually with a piece of paper that said I'm entitled to a CD with FreeDOS in it, if I give them $25 shipping and handling!), but it has the BIOS v. 1.08.

Anyone have an idea how to fix the volume? :)
