what are you asking? I, personally would install the 9 dollar firewire card, because you should wire the front up correctly now as long as you are putting the work in, do it right, and get it all done up front, so you don't ever have to fuss with it again. Also, a G5 hackintosh without firewire? That doesn't seem right.... But, yeah, if you choose not to wire up the front firewire port, then just use the firewire ground for your power switch. Agreed with the firewire ground to power switch ground. It works the same. -Stell |

Thank you. Check the wiring for the USB. I suggest buying a multimeter if you don't already have one. Also, for the led, switch the mobo side connector the other way around, see if you get the led on. My problem is either the led is on all the time, even when the machine is off or it's on when the machine is off and off when the machine is on. If that makes any sense... It depends on how I have the wires switched on the mobo end. -Stell |

Wait, would a Mac Pro case work too? sure thier is another thread for the mac pro case but I think for the G5 it is easier since more people have done it but thier is a thread to make it work, with a diagram of the front panel for that.and nervous chimp your mod is beautiful and may god bless you and the world

I just got my rear audio jacks installed, and it worked out even better than I hoped! Everything still looks stock, which is my goal:
![]() This is my panel mount rig. It gets cemented up to the rear ABS using ABS weld just like the rest of the connectors. ![]() And here it is in place. The ports are actually flush now that it's glued in, but its still curing so maybe I'll post a final picture later. amantheboy08, and stellarola, both you two are running the front ports without firewire? stell, try running the FW ground to an empty USB ground on your MOBO and see what happens amantheboy, check your usb pinout, and yes, wire up every USB wire, including the shielding ground. your device is getting power but cannot initialize because your wiring is wrong. |

All the ports I'l need is my USB on back, audio, firewire (Thats PCI) and my graphics (PCI)
So really, I can buy some USB extenders, and a audio cable, and I'm good for IO. Hmm, in the Mac Pro case for a hackintosh, can the HD bays be used by some custom mod? |

Yes It used to work before but suddenly stopped working maybe because I put the s-ground in thw one next to the pwer button. I wish I lived with not in that way though, yours looks so close to a real mac. OMFG. I bought that card. |

I wish I lived with not in that way though, yours looks so close to a real mac. OMFG. I bought that card. The s-ground (shielding) has nothing to do with the power button. The s-grounds are for shielding the usb and firewire cables. The one I labelled as firewire true ground is the actual firewire ground, and by the way, if people are not going to bother wiring the firewire, they should prolly run the fw ground to a usb or firewire ground on their mobo instead of their power button ground. .... but I am inclined to say that I can only condone using my pinout as long as people are going wire up everything just like I have it.... it works flawlessly for me, but I have it all connected just like you see in the diagram... I never tried running the FW ground to the power button ground, so I don't know for sure if that makes a difference. |

Yes the firewire ground works for the pwer ground. is thier a ground for the led because when I press the button thats the only time it lights up but pwer work through it |

Moving along.... it was a tight fit, but I was able to install a second network port in the modem space:
![]() So now I've got dual-LAN ports! up next: FW800, toslink, and antenna.... |

hey nervouschimp did you get your motherboard mounted in? nope.... that's the easy part.... but this will pretty much be the arrangement: ![]() That's my DVI jumper there on the tray that will run from the vid card to a pci-bracket. the PSU will install above the rats nest of the rear panel.... |

@nervouschimp:
Simply amazing. This was exactly what I wanted to do, the way of using the ports using some cables glued on. I'll be checking this very often. Also, what did you use for the expansion card slots near the back? |

wow nervouschimp, i didnt know you were gonna use a tray inside too. cause i was gonna ask how you planned to keep the PCI/e cards in place.
simply amazing. keep up the work. also. ide suggest making like a stainless steel shroud like aqua mac did. just to keep everything covered up. |
