Hello ALC888 experts. Myself and a couple of other ASrock Conroe945-DVI users (ICH7) have been trying to get even a glimmer out of this. We feel close and that possibly are doing something wrong somewhere in the whole process. If anyone has had any success whatsoever down this path, I and several others would be more than ecstatic.

I am having trouble wrapping my head around this thread.
In the end I can't get these drivers to work, hopefully someone can shed some light on my plight. Here is what I have: ALC883 audio package onboard my Asus P5ND2-SLI mainboard. I have 6 channel analog out and a coaxial SPDIF out (no SPDIF in) I installed JaS 10.4.8 Originally I modified the AppleAC97Audio.kext which got me 2 channel analog out. My goal is SPDIF surround out, I couldn't care less about inputs. So I tried installing the ALC883Audio.pkg. In custom options I select ALCInject and I tried 6 channel + digital. I delete the cache, reboot and get the same AC97 output as before, if I temporarily remove the AC97 kext I get no output. I'm going to try to revert the AC97 kext to the original version tonight. Will this help? Should the system even use this with the new drivers? I don't know how to remove the previously installed drivers from ALC883 so I just tried the other options. I had the same results though. I guess it installed them concurrently with the old ones? Should I uninstall the others and just try 1? How? I noticed Skippy mentioned problems with systems with no SPDIF In. Does this mean I am out of luck? Should that matter? I noticed there are a lot of references to SPDIF In in the drivers plists, but I have no idea what is going on in there. Can I test the drivers without rebooting? Should kextload AppleHDA work or do i need to do something with ALCInject? Thanks for any help you can give me. And thanks Skippy for all the Driver Work. Hi, I have Higabyte DS3 mobo with ALC883 chip, but I can`t get the 6-channel sound working.
Stereo works fine, 6 channel works during calibration, but the Apply button won`t actually do anything. Itunes still works in stereo, and when I go back to audio setup I see Stereo in settings, not Multichannel. Any Idea what it could be? |

AzaliaAudio.pkg should give 2ch output on most High Def Audio chipsets (updated v1.1) [attachment=6740:AzaliaAudio.pkg.zip] Thank a lot man. Now everything more or less works. For sure there are certainly limitations but I never used Mac before so it's difficult for me to compare. |

ALC883.kext output works on Asus P5L-VM 1394. Unsure whether input is working - the bar moves in system prefs with a mic connected but there is no loopback.
edit: tested with 'AudioRecorder' - input is working 100% Amazing work. This post has been edited by jester1o1: Jan 31 2007, 02:57 AM |

Can I use AzaliaAudio.pkg on 10.4.6 (Jas)? I'm so weary of Kernel Panics now.
I've already tried removign AppleHDA and adding my RealTek ALC862 Audio (VEN: 10EC, DEV: 0862, Audio) to the AppleAzalia.kext and regenerating the kextcache, but still no sound. I have a Toshiba M115-S3094 laptop. Thanks guys! |

I made the appleazaliaaudio.pkg with the 10.4.8 kext, so it might not work with older version's. But, it shouldn't cause a kernel panic, it just won't work.
I have stopped working on these kext because Taruga has released his patcher. His patcher is more advanced than these kext and is improving almost daily. Great work Taruga! |

Hi Skippy,
How are you doing? Forgive me for being daft , but I’m stuck with my audio thing. I’m using an Intel 946GZIS mobo that has got HD. Now it *does not* have any digi o/p. I’m not certain about the exact ALC88* number. I have downloaded all the three packages and only the regular one gives me a vol control icon on the "top bar". I see the iTunes play tracks but there is *no output* from the speakers. Taruga’s patcher is making the OS crash and I’m getting a "Push restart button" screen as soon as I apply the patch. Please let me know if you’d need any further details but please help me. |

I've just installed 10.4.6 (8.4.1) on an ASRock 775i945GZ. Everything works apart from the sound (ALC888). Just basic stereo out is all i want really. Is there any solutions for this setup that i could try. I can't update to 10.4.8 either cos then my LAN won't work, and i did try everything with that

For example usb Altec Lansing speakers sound really nice. |
