I installed the patch for my gigabyte 945GCMX-S2 board (acl888) and now i have four
built in line out in the output optins and another two in the input, but, i have to choose one of the built in line output so it will only sound the front speakers or the rears one but not together at the same time, i mean, how can i make it work like a 5.1 system?

Thanks

Hello everyone,

I have some noob questions.
  1. Basically I want to *uninstall* 3-pot and 3-port digital subpackages of skippytard's ALC888 package installed on my Hackintosh running Leopard. (I installed all subpackages.) Is there a way to do this?
  2. And if I remove these two subpackages, does the system still work with my 6 channels?
  3. Is there a way to show the audio information in System Profiler?

Thanks. smile.gif

I've tried many times with different variations, but no result
Does someone have any experience with making soun work on P5K? And what I actually have to do for that, stap by stap?

Really appreciate for any help with this problem..

Hi all i have a big question: how is the mapping done with your kexts?
I have a alc889a wich wa almost fully working (only no 5.1) and i broke the left channel by pluging the out cable of my self amplified monitoring speakers into the stereo output... poster_oops.gif
I thought that maybe i could get it back working by changing the output channel since there are 6 stereo plugs and only 3 used (mic, streo out, line in).
Does anyone know how to map it, i remember seeing a post saying tha the mapping for his card was wrong and that he changed it...

PS: I bought a usb soundcard to get sound but this is crap, just don't get tempted (hercules muse pocket LT usb it's written 5,1 and mac compatible on front of the box but on the rear there's written only stereo out for mac, and the best thing is that the stereo out has no bass at all and has a lot of noise).

Please help me with it...

Hey Skippy,

Is your MSI-945-gm3(f) still working for you in 10.5.1? I've tried all 4 install options in your 883 installer, no love so far. Generic 2-CH installer is working great..

OK, I have started a new thread so I can keep all my drivers together in one easy to find post. For a little background info on this project refer to THIS thread. I would also like to mention that this would not be possible without Semthex, Taruga, TheMax32000, Rene204 and the countless testers that have helped develop these kext!SkippyAzaliaAudio.pkg should give 2ch output on most High Def Audio chipsets (updated v1.1)[attachment=6740:AzaliaAudio.pkg.zip]ALC883Audio.pkg includes kext's for ALC883 support on mobo's with 3ports, 3ports w/digital, 6ports and 6ports w/digital[attachment=6726:ALC883Audio.mpkg.zip]ALC888Audio.pkg includes kext's for ALC888 support on mobo's with 3ports, 3ports w/digital, 6ports and 6ports w/digital[attachment=6739:ALC888Audio.mpkg.zip]YOU MUST USE 8.8.1 OR NEWER KERNEL WITH ALC883AUDIO.PKG AND ALC888AUDIO.PKG If you have 3 outputs working you can setup 5.1 using Audio MIDI Setup found in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder. On the menu bar select "Audio>Open Aggregate Device Editor". Click on the "+" square and it will add a new aggregate device. Now select "Use" next to each output you want to add(usually the first 3) and click "done". Change Default Output to the "Aggregate Device". Now select "Aggregate Device" in the Properties For: box and click on "Configure Speakers". Click "Multichannel" and select "5.1 Surround". When your done configuring your speakers the way you want them, make sure you click "Apply" before "Done". You should now have 5.1 surround sound working.
I'm little confused, kinda new to this audio fix thing. Before I just use USB sound. Question: I have a Gigabyte board with onboard ALC888 sound. Do I install both AzaliaAudio.pkg and ALC888Audio.pkg or just ALC888Audio.pkg alone? Thanks!

Okay, so I've got basic line-out working now on my alc888 (ga-p35-ds3L - ICH9) by adding the proper ids after installing the alc888 package in the first post. Now, is there anything special I need to do to get the front panel audio working? The front panel on my case (cooler master cm 690) had multiple audio connections for my motherboard, including HD Audio, AC 97, and Azalia. From what I can tell from my motherboards book, both HDA and AC97 are supported. My understanding was that this is an HDA driver. Should I try another driver, or is there something else I need to do?There is also only one output option in the sound menu (basic line-out), even though my motherboard has multichannel/digital/spdif/optical.Is this the wrong driver to get all this working?
Hi there, I have the same board as you. Can you give me a quick rundown on how did you install the ALC888 and what ID added to which kext? Thanks a bunch. Have you tried install AzaliaAudio.pkg to get the front pannel working yet? I don't think it matters which case you are using as the chip is on motherboard. Am I right?

Ok well I wanted to say thanks the post starter for providing these kext's. Needless to say they work fine on my system spec's are as follows

OS - JAS 10.4.8 release
Mobo - Gigabyte GA-G31 MX-S2 - G31 with ICH7 chipset, ALC888 Audio
Proc - Intel Allendale E4400 2.0GHz running @ 2.8GHz
Ram - Kingston Value Ram 2GB 667Mhz @ 932 MHz 2.1v
HDD - Seagate Barracuda 10.1 80GB Sata II
Video - EVGA 7600GS

Needless to say the only 2 things I had issues with was my NIC (which I was able to get up and running just fine) and my ALC888 HDA, no other issues at all, 10.4.8 is no up and running beautifully.

Once again thanks for your work on these drivers!!!

Hi to all!
I need a medium-high performance motherboard that fully supports 5.1 analog audio output in leopard (better if digital output too but it isn't a must)
Please, can someone help me?
thank you!
Bye!

I tried the first package, the Azalia one, and it didn't work with my mobo/chipset.

My vendor ID is 10EC and the device ID is 0885, it's just the ALC889A chipset also known as Azalia. Is there a way I can edit the kexts I now have thanks to previous methods and just add in my own device ID?

I'm going to try the ALC888 package now though.

Edit[1]: I have my audio working (Every port too, it seems) thanks to another method. That is all.

I get jacked up sound with my headphones when using the 883 installer (I tried 3 and 6 port modes, what is the difference anyways?), but line-in works. The sound has 0 bass, so it sounds like something over the telephone which is just terrible for music. Ive tried the 4 line-out ports and they all sound the same. The 2ch one sounds fine but I dont get line-in.

Is there any way I can have good sound over headphones as well as line-in?
