[How To] Solutions for Ethernet Problems, A Compilation |
Welcome to the Genius Bar. Here's how this forum works:
1. Members are encouraged to make a guide that details something that they might have found troubling or challenging.
Chances are, if you've seen the same question asked over and over again, you should write a guide for it.
2. This is not the forum for asking questions. If you have a question about a thread that's already here, feel free to ask it.
Just don't start a thread for a specific question. Use the other forums here for that.
3. Posting links to off-site tutorials is not allowed.
4. That's it! Thanks for sharing your information with the rest of us. :)
To keep this forum clean this forum is moderated. You can post in existing topics but new ones will have to be approved before they show up.

eh,JoshC,heres a solution.i have seen the thread post by socal swimmer.Thx by his guide.Refer to socal swimmer, now heres the ethernet solution for GA P35-DS3:
boot into bios(press <delete> at bios post) open "Intergreted Perpherals" enable LAN Boot ROM startup. It will add 20-30 seconds to your boot time, but ethernet will work. |

I have a bad axe2 with Leopard 10.5.1. I'm using the LAN 82573E/82573L Gigabit Ethernet Port. In System Preferences --> Network shows Cable Unplugged. If I refresh the connection by selecting BootP at CONFIGURE and back to DHCP then it gets the connection and the internet works. So I need to refresh the network everytime I start the computer. It still shows CABLE UNPLUGGED but the internet works, the newtork light blinks properly.Any ideas how do I solve this problem? How do I trick the computer to say in there: CONECTED ... currently active instead of cable unplugged?see photo attached.I have a bad axe2 with Leopard 10.5.1. Hey Everyone!!!! look at what i discovered!!!!Realtek Drivers from REALTELK them selves:
RTL8111B/RTL8168B/RTL8111/RTL8168/RTL8111C for 10.4 (10/100/1000 pciE) under OTHER http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downlo...GetDown=false#7 RTL8110S-32/RTL8110SB(L)/RTL8169SB(L)/RTL8169SC(L) RTL8169 (10/100/1000 pci) for 10.4 under OTHERhttp://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downlo...ue#5,7,8,10,987 Not sure if this one will help anyone but it is an Intel 8254x driver from smalltree. They make intel cards for Mac computers. Maybe some coder can use this as a basis for supporting other intel nics.

Can anyone use this Linux driver to make Atheros 2 LAN work?
I went ahead and got a Hawking 10/100 PCI adapter that came with OS X drivers but didnt mention OS X drivers on the box. Lucky I guess it works fine in 10.5.1

Ethernet This is a compilation of many of the different ethernet solutions available. It is not exhaustive. If you don't find what you want, search for it. Please do not post questions in this thread looking for a solution that is not listed. Use other threads for that. Please do post other good known ethernet solutions in this thread. I will try to incorporate any posted solutions into the list. Otherwise, users can read the thread for any other solutions. Realtek 8139 - For 8.8.1 kernel (10.4.8) only - Read this [/indent] This link is not working... I´ve got almost everything working on my Acer Aspire 5104Wlmi, just need Ethernet & Wifi... and it´s got Realtek RTL8139/810x(Ethernet) and Atheros AR5007EG(Wifi). Hope somebody here knows where this link was supposed to be going... |
