How to install Hackintosh on Toshiba Qosmio F60/033 (RETAIL) INTEL:

NO WARRANTY IS IMPLIED OR GIVEN AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THESE STEPS WILL WORK FOR YOU AS THEY HAVE FOR ME.

BACK UP YOUR SYSTEM BEFORE READING THIS GUIDE**. **WE WILL BE FORMATING ENTIRE HDD.

Since I had hard time find documentation online with regards to how to install Hackintosh on Toshiba Qosmio F60/033, I decided to share my experience.

For this installation you will need following DVD/CD:

1.0 EmpireEFI bootloader found HERE , Download the EmpireEFI V1.085 for Intel Core i series processor and OSX 10.6.3 retail DVD as I am installing this on i series CPU.

2.0 MAC OS X retails DVD (10.6.3)

3.0 Toshiba Qosmio F60/033

4.0 USB mouse (mouse trackpad didn't work for me)

NOTE : I didnt make any BIOS changes apart from boot order.

Once you have all the necessary CD/DVD's you can start the installation. Before we start I will have to stress the point #####/##### legacy (this is for unsupported CPUS & GPUS) did not work for me, I was kept on getting a black screen after booting to MAC OS X Retail DVD. I was unable to solve this so went with EmpireEFI bootloader.

Lets get stuck into it :

1.0 Download EmpireEFI

2.0 Burn the image to CD, I would prefer to use CDRW as you might want to try other bootloders so why waste CD, I know they are cheap.

3.0 Place EmpireEFI in CD/DVD drive

4.0 Restart computer

5.0 It will boot into CD and it will ask you to press any key to boot into Chameleon screen be patient as it takes about 1 min or less

5.0 At Chameleon prompt, eject EmpireEFI

6.0 Insert your Mac OS X Snow Leopard Retail DVD and press F5

7.0 Once you have pressed F5 the EmpireEFI CD will change to Mac OS X Snow Leopard Retail DVD, again please be patient as it takes time to load the DVD.

8.0 Select Mac OS X Snow Leopard Retail DVD on Chameleon prompt and press enter. This will change screen to Apple with wheel spin.

9.0 When you get to the installation screen, open Utilities/Disk Utility on the top. I didnt use any command to boot into Mac OS X Snow Leopard Retail DVD mine just worked didnt need to press -x or PCIRootUID=1 as explained HERE

10.0 Partition your hard drive to GUID Partition Table. Please note that in my case I have FORMATED the entire HDD otherwise you can make the HDD as GUID Partition. YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR DATA SO SAVE ANYTHING IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE COMING TO THIS STAGE. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DATA LOSS.

11.0 Format your hard drive to Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

12.0 For the purposes of this guide, name it Snow Leopard. You can rename it later.

13.0 Close Disk Utility

14.0 When the installer asks you where to install, choose Snow Leopard or whatever you named you MAC partition as.

15.0 Choose Customize‚ and uncheck additional options. This will hasten the install process. You can always install this stuff later.

16.0 Restart computer.

17.0 Place EmpireEFI back in drive. YOU WILL ALWAYS NEED THE EmpireEFI BOOTLOADER AS WE HAVE JUST DID THE RETAIL MAC OS X INSTALLATION AND WE DIDNT INSTALL ANY BOOTLOADER HENCE THE EmpireEFI CD.

18.0 When you get to the Chameleon boot selection screen, choose your new Snow Leopard installation.

Next step is to update to 10.6.7 but I havent done this yet also I have not installed any driver yet as I am not sure what drivers I need. I will add more to this once I figure out what to use to install driver I am guessing the best thing out there is #####. But as you can I am confused at this stage as I have EmpireEFI bootloader so I am not sure whether I can use #####

If anyone can help that will be great.

Once I have installed the driver I will be isntalling Windows 7 by following this guide found here

Thanks

Did you have success getting the internal LCD to display full resolution with QI/CE? I can only get the external monitor to work. I installed SL with ##### and DSDT, I have tried all suggestions on forums with no success. Anybody's help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately no ... I can only get internal display if you turn off the Graphics Mode to No ... however that only gives you one resolution ...

Can you please let me know does your sound work ?? If so what driver did you install?

I used an older version of Voodoo HDA as attached, Chameleon R684 from ##### and DSDT.aml.

Anval bootloader enables the GT330m to be seen in preferences but still no luck with QE-CI etc have tried adding backlight commands to DSDT and showtopic=208410EDID in Displays fix with no luck.
