Cerastez Posted January 3, 2011 Share Posted January 3, 2011 iPC 10.5.6 on a HP D530 USDT, then upgraded to 10.5.8 Don't go out and buy one of these machines, they are not very well supported and only have one PCI slot, so they are difficult to modify. This guide will give you a functional machine. What does not work: No Quartz Extreme - the intel 865 chipset graphics are not supported. If you can find a supported half-length PCI , video card, then you should be able to have QE. Good luck finding one. No DVD playback - This is a mystery to me. Maybe you would need QE for it to work. And no VLC doesn't work ether. No onboard ethernet - You have to get a PCI ethernet card or a USB ethernet adapter. It is possible to get the onboard BCM5782 to be recognized and connect, but it is extremely slow and buggy. Better to just get a well supported card. Everything else works. I haven't tested Time Machine and there could be problems with sleep. Don't update Quicktime or iTunes, the newest versions don't work well. Fix "USB Over Current" Notices Go to Apple's website and download iousbfamily349.4.3_log.dmg or get it here iousbfamily349.4.3_log.dmg Install iousbfamily349.4.3_log.dmg Go to System/Library/Extensions and right click on IOUSBFamily.kext to show package contents Open the Plugins folder Right click on AppleUSBEHCI.kext and select "Move to Trash," authorize by typing in your password.
