well let me tell my experience, I updated then when I restart the computer I saw a kernel panic and os x crash, then I turn off and on again and it works, maybe is common to get a kernel panic when the computer is booting.

It feels refreshing to finally update without worrying about hacks and tweaks. Maybe Apple is slowly loosening its grip on Tiger in order to focus more on Leopard. At this point, they need to admit that Tiger is pretty much a lost cause when it comes to preventing illegal use.

after all, it's the Bom.frameworks under System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ that's causing troubles. just replace it with the old ones and everything will come back to normal

where would i turn to find the old Bom.framework One way might be: Get Pacifist. Mount your install DVD to the desktop. Use Pacifist to open the DVD and go to: System/Library/Installation/Packages/Essentials.pkg In Pacifist: Under System -> Library -> PrivateFrameworks, extract (or install) the Bom.framework. |

working here too, 10.4.7 Intel. Packages can still be installed even without restoring the bom.framework, and Disk Utility was also still working right after install.
