Let's see if we can keep this going...I've tried both so far w/o success, but I'm determined to get this going. btw - just fyi here's my specs (a little different)

Inspiron 14r

core i3 (350m)

(hm57 chipset)

4gb ddr3 1333mhz ram

500 gb seagate barracuda (7200rpm) (insane upgrade - took me forever)

dell 365 bluetooth (this will be no prob)

dell wireless-n 1501 (not sure about this - shouldn't be a problem....believe it's broadcom)

I think the rest is pretty much the same for any inspiron 14r, or 15 or 17 for that matter.

Anyway, easyefi didn't work at all for me - not sure what's wrong there....but I'll keep trying and posting...please keep us in the loop with your results too.

thanks!

HAve no luck either, the only way it worked was with empire Efi + Retail 10.6.0, but have to keep the disc in the drive to boot , the post instalation didnt worked for me, and when i make an updtae , with update combo i get Kernel panic, iopcplatform i think (installing the easy efi also gave me Kernel Panic.

Wi Fi is Broadcom 47xx it doesnt work, sound, voodoo HDA , Track pad ,works , Camera Works, Ethernet Works with Atlansic L1e Kext, Sleep Doesnt and Video Doesnt.(need to unpack Easy efi and post Kext Here)

Keep in touch! Bye!

same here, I used ##### and I can install, but when I run ##### and restart, it wont boot. The only way it boots is with the ##### cd. Also when I run 10.6.3 it gets about 75% installed then kernel panic. Once that happens even ##### can't get it to boot.

(10.6.2 installed it would still boot with #####)

i just looked at the list of various core processors on tonymac's blog, it turns out the 350m isn't supported (but doing a little search here in insanely mac, one user reported success using iatkos s3) I'm not giving up though...still searching and reading

ok, for whatever reason extra folder was empty, and I learned that if you replace the extra folder after you install multiboot (even though install fails)...it will then boot. Worked for me....now on to the rest of the kexts......

(the previous extra folder was just empty ????) anyway - we're getting somewhere...at least I can boot w/o cd now

next step was to use the file from the nowalleasy blogspot and choose what you want to install.....success # 2......moving along (of course I'm still only on 10.6.0, but getting somewhere nonetheless) Hope this helps you guys....

yup i3 350m isn't supported, but it did boot and work with #####. What kext's need to go into the extra folder to boot?

I'll give it another go and make sure to stop at 10.6.2

well, I literally just 'drag and drop' replaced the whole extra folder from the ##### cd to my hd and it worked, the kexts needed for the extensions folder you could grab from the easyefi2.1 iso - he put a million in there, and perhaps use kext utility or kext helper, but so far I'm still struggling to get it going...hope this helps, and keep us posted on your progress...thanks!

(I'm still researching which specific kexts, but the ethernet one you can get - just google 'iats google code' - that's one any way, and I can confirm it works (the ethernet controller is atheros ar8152) - the rest I'm still trying to figure out

hmm, I installed it by first installing OSX using #####, then I ran the 10.6.2 installer, then restarted using ##### as the boot cd again.

iatkos s3 appears to be the way to go with the qoopz 10.3 kernel selected...loading right now, and will post results; however this still doesn't resolve the op's dilemma about resolution - still not sure how to get this right...

we'll keep tryin'

yup, iatkos s3 v1 (v2 is available too), with the busratio=17, or whatever # fits your processor = working/booting 106.3 install!!!!

Great stuff - now on to the rest of the kexts (I still need wireless and bluetooth - not sure yet, oh yes, and resolution - I think this should be out here somewhere though)

Let us know what works for you all......

Yes, i tried Retail but only got 10.6.0 without updates or graphics, and also without Wi fi , the rest was ok.

Ill try with iatkos S3 V2 , for intel HD we could try the Kext from Easyefi.

Ill keep in touch!

Hey guys any luck? I am really good with windblows but a complete idiot with osx. I am trying to make the switch over but don't have any ideas how to troubleshoot. I also have an N4010. Mine has the i3 M350, and integrated HD graphics. Any suggestions? Let's keep this one going. I know a lot of people are getting this laptop.
