Sony Vaio Z with 1GB 330M?

I'm also interested in SL on a Vaio Z.

Core i5 processor

Intel HM57 Express Chipset

Intel GMA HD

nVidia GT330M

I would assume it would work with either GMAHD or the 330. There is a hardware toggle on the laptop to switch between the two and an "automatic" position to let it decide for you. Not sure if SL will be able to do the automatic switching.

Anyone have one these or similar machine?

Well, there've been certain claims already that some people were able to get hackint0sh working on the latest sony vaio Z line...there're rumours as well, they've managed to get hardware QE/CI running...just google, dear friends, just google...for instance there's this guy who uploaded video on youtube with SL running virtually, but he added some instructions to have SL installed as a native OS...

GIYF is the password of the day.

Although it's still a work in progress (it's still not 100% working Snowy Z, for example the built-in wireless from Intel is one of the issues), I personally believe, there're much bigger chances now to see SL running on the Sony Vaio Z as good as never before ;)

From Youtube (

Now i can't go to AHCI setting in bios any more. It stuck up at bios screen. I think i can't get vdo for u. So i will share what i have done here.

1.Enable Advaned Menu Bios from here:

http://forum.notebookreview.com/sony/47322...-menu-bios.html

2.Switch to AHCI mode and set vga switching policy to static and move graphics tri-button to stamina

3.Shut down and Boot from ##### CD(make sure that led on stamina is lightup, if not enter bios save and exit again) then setup from snow leopard retail from:

http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/ibo...ac-os-x-on.html

by using busratio=20 other cpu can check value from:

http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/01/int...processors.html

4.when installation finish and you hit restart. Boot again from iBootCD use busratio=20 again you should go in OSX 10.6

5.Backup your /System/Library/Extension/ then run OSXupdate 10.6.3(1.1) Combo update. After this installation you'll get kernel panic soon. So please restart after installation complete immediately.

6.When you restart and boot from ##### again it will get error nevermind just restart again you should get in to 10.6.3. If not please try -x busratio=20 to get in safe mode

7.Force install new macbookpro i5/i7 update from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1026 by Pacifist Utililties

8.Install USB, Sleepenabler kext from

http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/03/mac...063-update.html

9.Shut down switch tri-button to speed and boot up

10.You should get on Snow Leopard 10.6.3 at 1920x1080 with QE/CI

Go ahead and try, post your experiences. I dont have the sony vaio z (2010) version. But, I might just order one now, it pisses on the mbp 13 2010 in regards of hardware, with osx it would be the awesomeness.

Looks like your plan is good.

Why we need to install mac os in stamina mode? Does automatic switch of video work?

Stamina => Intel HD. My guess is that it's to provide an easier install prosess. As to the switching, I dont know, haven't tried it. Apple has drivers for the Intel HD and the 330m and a solution for the switching. Wether the hackintos community has managed to get this done, im unsure of.

Switching in BIOS will work though.
