HI ALL :)

ok so....

i have an hp dv7-3085dx (i7 intel pm55 chipset laptop),

i had ideneb 1.6 10.5.8 combo update running fine but only with 1 cpu

and it ran with the small caveat that i had to install natinit and efi strings from aitkos v7 (10.5.6)

after finishing the ideneb install, no other method seemed to load the drivers..

Once the new distro came out i had tried to install hazard's 10.6.2 combo update to get all cores running, heres what i found,

IT WOULDNT BOOT WITHOUT CPUS=1 BUSRATIO=12 FSB=133

OK FIRST I WAS LIKE :) YA RIGHT SNOW ON A LAPTOP WITH H20INSYDE BIOS

THEN I WAS LIKE :D IS THIS THING REALLY INSTALLING?

THEN I WAS LIKE :P AHAHA SO LONG SUCKERS I GOT SNOW WITH MULTI CORE SUPPORT AND EVERYTHING

THEN ONCE I TRIED TO RUN ANY GRAPHICS APPLICATIONS I WAS LIKE

:P:shock::fiery::)

OSX REPORTS 0 NVRAM ON MY NVIDIA GT 230M (I HAD TO USE EFI FOR 285 couldnt find 230)

I have tried installing nvinject from other distros and all the options from the hazrd distro but they all result in the

"your computer needs to be restarted screen"

ok so heres the question...

how do i install the correct efi strings and/or packages or drivers for this card on this board for this os?

its a pm55 board with i7 720 chip and nvidia gt 230m...

free internet tokens for the guy or girl who can help me out pls pls pls ! :)

just missing video thats it... OMG!!!!!

I am a total noob but am getting a dv7-3085dx delivered next week.

So, if I am reading you correctly,

ideneb 1.6 10.5.8

+

natinit and efi strings from aitkos v7 (10.5.6)

=

1 cores running with graphics

ideneb 1.6 10.5.8

+

natinit and efi strings from aitkos v7 (10.5.6)

+

hazard's 10.6.2 combo update

=

all 4 cores running but no graphics

Forget free internet tokens, I'd pay to have a working system!

Ok, so I gave it a try on my DV7t-3000 but I went with a different mothod.

I used the Empire EFI boot disk for i7s to install a real MAC OSX snow leopard upgrade DVD (The one you buy for $30). I was able to install snow leopard without a problem. Once inside OSX I browsed the Empire EFI CD and I installed myhack so I could get a self booting system, it didn't work but it did get my sound working.

I next tried getting the video card to work but the drivers I tried didnt work for me. Do you mind sharing in detail how you got your video card to work using the Aitkos DVD so I can try is on my snow leopard install.

In the hardware profiles it showed a 1.6 ghz CPU and under cores it was 4 so im assuming that snow leopard recognized all 4 cores

Did you ever get this working? I have the same exact system and bought the retail/upgrade version of snow leopard. It installs fine on my system, but only sees 1 core and 1Gb of ram. Also, not seeing any vid card support for it.

Hi Randumbname! I've got same specs as you: DV7 3085dx i7 720QM. Did you ever sort out the boot issue?

I've noticed throughout forums that there's a few people with same specs and I've been trying for a fex days now to install a osx iAtkos v7 on my laptop.

The issue is that I can only boot with flags like: ("cpus=1 busratio=12 -y -u -x") :)

(in safemode) I've tried to install some patches and kext's but nothing seem to solve the reboot issue!!! Anyone who can help me? Pleeeeeeease!!!

Thank you very much Tonymacx86! -BIOS boot priority set to CD-ROM

-BIOS power saving disabled

-Burn #####.Supported.iso disc at slowest speed possible

-Insert ##### disc on start up. Replace with Snow Leopard 10.6.3 retail disc on Chameleon boot screen.

-Hit F5 to refresh. Launch Snow Leopard with -x and cpus=1 tags.

-Partition disc using GUID. If you have multiple hard drives, select the first drive (disk0) otherwise Chameleon wont work for hard drive boot.

-Install Snow Leopard (If doing a custom install, only uncheck printers and translation files otherwise it hangs on reboot)

-Reboot after successful install, cpus=1 tag still required. Watch intro video and complete set-up.

-Launch ##### install with the minimal options:

---->##### for unsupported CPU

---->System Utilities

---->Kexts>Audio>VoodooHDA0.2.56

---->Kexts>Graphics>ATY_init

---->Kexts>Network>RealtekR1000SL

---->Kexts>Miscellaneous>VoodooPS/2Controller

-Eject #####. Reboot from hard drive with -v busratio=12 cpus=8. Enjoy

Here I confirm the above mentioned procedures are working on my DV7-3085DX. The followings are my experience:

1. Install ##### 2.0 with ##### with unsupported CPU option and your choice of kexts, which installs patched kernel and makes 8 cores working with: -v busratio=12 cpus=8. If KP, you may try: -x busratio=12 cpus=8 maxmem=4087.

2. When you have KP, try booting ##### Supported CD with: -x busratio=12 cpus=1, it can solve most of KPs. In safe mode, apply ##### again, repair permissions. If not bootup, you shall re-install with retail DVD.

3. ##### does not have kext for sleep enable. Go to preference->power->turn off the sleep. The laptop will die if it falls asleep and re-install retail DVD is required.

4. If your laptop have more than 4G RAM, strongly recommend to remove the extra that causes KPs in certain situations. When you finish all the touch-up, you may install the extra RAM back and boot with: -v busratio=12 cpus=8 maxmem=6135.

5. Every time you change kexts and/or plist, suggest to repair permissions using disk utility. Otherwise, KPs happens 50-50 chances.

Lastly, the patched kernel makes two left USBs and webcam not working, which work with ##### CD/vanilla kernel (but cpus=1). I tried different combinations and found that no kext or plist modification can resolve this.

The DV7-3085DX geekbench 32bit result is 4499, better than most powerful T9900 macBook pro!!

Cheers,
