sweetbrett
i tried using this to get QE/CI working with my 7950gt, but EFI studio doesn't have the 7950gt in the list. I picked the 7900gt 512mb thinking it might be close, but when i rebooted i got left at a blue screen (i think the blue screen may be due to the 10.5.5 drivers, not the efi string tho). edit: found a 7950gt efi string, but i still can't bood with these drivers b20200000100000001000000a60200001000000002010c00d041030a000000000101060000010101 60000007fff04000e0000004e00560050004d0000002000000001000000000000000000000000000 0000000000000000000000000024000000400030002c00630061006e002d0068006f0074002d0070 06c0075006700000004000000220000004100410050004c002c0067007200610079002d007000610 67006500000008000000010000001c0000006400650076006900630065005f007400790070006500 0000f0000004e5644412c506172656e740e0000006e0061006d00650000000b000000646973706c6 7922000000400030002c006400650076006900630065005f00740079007000650000000b00000064 973706c6179100000006d006f00640065006c000000130000004765466f726365203739353020475 22000000400031002c006400650076006900630065005f00740079007000650000000b0000006469 3706c617920000000400031002c0063006f006d00700061007400690062006c00650000000e00000 4e5644412c4e564d616314000000400030002c006e0061006d0065000000120000004e5644412c44 973706c61792d4114000000400031002c006e0061006d0065000000120000004e5644412c4469737 6c61792d421200000049004f004e0061006d00650000000b000000646973706c6179200000004000 0002c0063006f006d00700061007400690062006c00650000000e0000004e5644412c4e564d61632 000000400031002c00630061006e002d0068006f0074002d0070006c007500670000000400000010 000004e00560043004100500000001800000004000000000003000c00000000000007000000001e0 000072006f006d002d007200650076006900730069006f006e0000000e0000004746582d53545249 e47

I HAVE TRIED TO GET QE / CI ON MY 7300GT FOR A WEEK ALMOST NON-STOP! THIS IS THE FIX! I deleted all the video kexts from the extensions from finder, rebooted with the default driver, install the 9f23, rebooted, and then got a black screen with my mouse pointer and nothing else... then I cursed the Mac name (forgive me Mac gods), i rebooted again in safe mode, used efi studio to add the efi strings for my card, and rebooted again, and they HOLY {censored} qe/ci is working!!!!! I just want to say that I am pleased that there are so many more intelligent people than me working on these things... because I was ready to go back to windo...... actually i would never go back to that other operating system. But thanks mondial, you have saved me endless hours of cursing.
burnz78
thought i'd share my experience as well. installed IPC 10.5.6 on my AMD 4200+, TA690G mobo with 7300GT card. started with NVinject 0.2.1 drivers, no QE/CI. uninstalled that, used EFI Studio to install strings for my 7300GT. again, no QE/CI. finally, i removed EFI strings, and decided to try NVdarwin 1.2.5. wala! QE/CI enabled, and i'm able to use Plex now!

RAWIRON
Allright, people. I've tried everything with my ASUS 8500GT 256 Mb with iDeneb 10.5.5 (10.5.6 doesn't work for my Marvell ethernet somehow) - 9f23, NVDarwin, NVinject, NVkush. My goal is to get it running on my 1080p TV via DVI-HDMI connection (without sound of course ) NVinject and NVkush worked fine when plugging via VGA at 1280x1024, but when installing iDeneb with DVI connected, the system works allright before I create my account at 1920x1080 and click Next - I have bluescreen and locked up. Safe mode doesn't help, after I reboot I get the 1920x1080 desktop and able to move mouse around it, but can't click a thing - everything seems unresponsive. 9f23 was even stranger - after following the advice in this thread I got 1920x1080 background with some small strange artifacts and was able to see the mouse for 2-3 secs. NVDarwin at first detected my card as 1024 Mb 8500GT, but when I forced it to install 256 Mb drivers (256.mpkg) only - it showed 256 Mb version in System Profiler, but still i got 1024x768 only and no QE/CI. Anybody can advise what can be happening?

BINGO!!! see my System-Profiler/Grafik-Monitore: Thanks mondial! Followed these instructions and got the QE/CI working on my 8500GT 512MB on iAtkos 10.5.5 - finally. Some differences tho, 1) I backed up my old geforce kexts instead of deleting them. 2) after 1st reboot I had black screen, so I booted back into single-user mode and replaced the kexts 3) rebooted and had QE/CI and all resolutions. BUT, trying to change res resulted in blank blue screen. WTF?!? 4) after some dicking around it occured to me to move the connection from the VGA to DVI connector on the video card. 5) Moved cnxn to DVI output on 8500. rebooted. SCHWING! Final config: Ge* kexts installed. 9f23installer executed. EFIStudio applied 8500GT hex string. CONNECTION=DVI I think this would work without the kexts in place, but wanted to get this posted so hopefully, others might benefit from my "error" of using the VGA connector instead of DVI on the video card. Shambler
I just thought I'd pipe up and mention that the Original Posters method worked well for my setup 10.5.6 Nvidia 7800 GTX 256MB I wasn't able to use EFI Studio however, as it didn't have the strings for my card. OSX86Tools however did, and it worked fine in place of EFI Studio in this guide. That was the last thing annoying me after the 10.5.6 upgrade, so thanks a lot!
