Hi, I haven't used iPC before (i use retail) but I have the same mobo as you so I'm pretty sure what options you should pick.

If you have an Intel Core 2 Duo/Quad don't select any kernels. If you have something else like a Celeron D, etc click "9.5.0 Voodoo Kernel". Also you will need to install "Seatbelt Kext 10.5.5" but only if you use the Voodoo kernel.

Under Video Drivers select "Nvinject 0.2.1 XXXMB VRAM" where XXX is the size of your graphics card memory.

Under Chipset select "Intel ICHx SATA Drivers" and if you want the Jmicron SATA ports and IDE to work also select "JMicron ATA for JMicron IDE."

For sound you'll need "ALC882" under Audio drivers.

Ethernet networking should work out of the box and for Wireless to work select "Realtek RTL8187/L" under the Wireless Drivers tab.

If you have one of the old style PS2 keyboard or mice select the PS2 drivers as well.

Following the above instructions it should install perfectly but before you install you will also need the correct BIOS settings:

http://lifehacker.com/348653/install-os-x-...cking-required/

Also when you start up from the DVD i have found it helpful to boot in verbose mode so you know what is going on. (to boot in verbose mode gold F8 as you boot from the DVD type -v and then press enter)

Good luck, please reply letting me know how you get on.

This is really helpful, thanks. I've been running kalyway on my p5w dh deluxe for almost a year now following the lifehacker guide. I've not been great about following these forums and have now broken my install (as far as I can tell) updating - first to 10.5.5 and now 10.5.6. I feel like every time I check these sites, there are "new" ways to install. I'd be interested in hearing your experience with the retail install as well as what guide you followed (I need really basic step by step instructions). I know there is an entire thread dedicated to this mobo but it's intimidatingly long...

Maybe the iPC is the way to go?

Thanks in advance.

thanks mate !!

will give it a try - tried iatkos5i but wouldnt boot at all

@garmone - yeah the p5w thread is superlong and supercomplicated

bios settings

funny thing is the bios settings differ in various guides

one here from the forum claiming a perfect install:

Bios Settings:

-Go to IDE configuration and change the ide/sata mode to AHCI

-Enable “Execute Disable function”

-Turn off Speedstep Settings (unless you plan to use a hacked speedstep kernel)

-Change the Jmicron Controller to AHCI (only if you are using Jmicron,

otherwise, disable it)

-MicroCode Update: Enabled

-Max CPUID Limite: Enabled

-ACPI2 support : yes

-ACPI APIC: Enabled

-Suspend mode: S3

the one linked (misses 3pix - already emailed him 2 weeks ago) has a few things different

enabled alpe and asp in ide settings

disabled firewire and lan for some reason

enabled plug and play bios

disabled max cpu value limit

and only god knows what these other pictures say that are not accessible anymore

would be interesting to find out what really to change and what not in the bios settings

but most interesting - concerning the 10.5.6 install

what fixes and patches and system drivers to install ? - i have absolutely no clue with them

for a standard and simple geforce sata setup

ok installed it again

the lan works fine without selecting anything

i only have one audio channel on the rear tho - front panel wont work - it says no audio installed

also no firewire

no quartz extreme

thats what i saw until now

instead of easier these new distros become more and more compicated and frustrating to install

where is the development ?

If you're not getting QE then at the kext install menu don't select anything under video cards and install EFI studio under other tools and boot into leopard and launch efi studio (applications/utilities) and select your video card and write to com.apple.Boot.plist. You can also enable quartz gl buy installing OSx86 Tools Utility.

You might have front panel firewire and audio disabled in the bios so look around.

ok i think i got it somewhat working now

i installed the nvdarwin instead of the others - works

audio - legacy audio alc882 adress 0 or 2 - both work (normal one does not)

realtek wlan

fw mount fix (doesnt really help with firewire issue)

shutdown restart fix

apple smbios 28

intel ichx

DSDT normal

i did not install

sata drive icon fix (they were still yellow when i installed them) - is there any performance hit aswell or is it just the color ?

rmv cpu power manager (says might cause problems)

firewire still does not work

sleep leaves screen blank

- searching for more issues

ok sleep is working now too

dont know if it was the dsdt patcher i applied afterwards

or if it was the bios setting - enabled the one below the s3 - refreshes the gpu on wakeup or something

but it works now

it took it a while to remember that i want the same resolution after waking up as before

but now it seems to remember it

on waking up the first time it found a firewire network device

but it does not work

it does not see any attached devices like the disk (works on other machine)

it says :

Warning: Unable to list FireWire devices

and yes that is written in red :-)

cant install maya

it does not see a network card

maybe its the firewire thing again

the firewire is treated as network card

i have 3 networks

the lan works

weired thing is that the first lan has an ip that does not make sense

i only have one connected - the second

i would strongly recommend going the boot132/hidden efi partition way

it took me a few weeks to find out

unfortunately hackintosh still means putting tons and tons of time into your machine

i made a little guide with files:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1084836

essentially this will give you a 100% vanilla install

you have to format your drive with guid partitions

then you have a 100mb hidden partition

in this partition the bootloader and the kexts and all modifications are beeing installed

so the os install stays untouched

you can take kexts or mkexts from any p5w 132 boot image and copy it to that partition and see which one works best

already tried

doesnt help

Hi !

FireWire You get running with deleting AppleHPET.kext from Sys/lib/extensns

I had best results on my P5W with the following choosen installers on iPCOSx:

(without graphics)

x base system

x legacy TimeMachine fix

x LegacyAppleIntelPIIXATA

x legacyJMicronATA

x Legacy AppleHDA ALC882 Adress 0

x Marvell Yukon 88E8039/8053

x Realtek RTL8187/L

x shutdown/restart fix

x AppleSMBIOS hardcoded to 1066MHz DDR2 RAM

I have troubles with my Radeon X1300XT which is actually a X1600pro 71c2,

but the 71c2 installer of the iPCOSx is {censored}...

regards

Dmut
