if you delve into you kexts on the macbook5,1/macbookpro5,1 specifically:
IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin.kext/Contents/Info.plist you will find this:

CODE
  <dict>
        <key>Desc-Key</key>
        <string>CFG_MCP79</string>
        <key>Description</key>
        <string>Mini-FL-2008</string>
        <key>model</key>
        <string>Macmini3,1</string>
  </dict>

and...
CODE
  <dict>
        <key>Desc-Key</key>
        <string>CFG_MCP79</string>
        <key>Description</key>
        <string>iMac-FL-2008</string>
        <key>NoSLFM</key>
        <true/>
        <key>model</key>
        <string>iMac9,1</string>
       </dict>

Oooh. I wonder how long this will take to be announced. I'm looking at building a new hack with modest specs, so a new Mac Mini would be pretty sweet instead if the price is ok.

The 9400M is pretty good. It's openGL scores are as good as my 7600GT, on a 2.4ghz Pentium Dual core. This in a Mac Mini is nice.

This looks like it might make a nice future hack-mini if its cheap enough not sure about performance though ...

Looks cool but if the Mac-mini will be packed with features, I prefer the real deal thumbsup_anim.gif

Ditto. If these really debut at $499, they will be the new Media Center standard for Plex...my Media Center Hackintosh recipe is $500, so this would be a great (tiny) alternative!

Hello, I have joined to let you guys know that you are front page on macrumors, which is subsequently on the front page of Digg; expect Gizmodo, Engadget, and ArsTechnica to pick up on this quite shortly, I dropped the word with them biggrin.gif

@ The OP: thanks, epic find, and enjoy being famous for a few days wink.gif

Nice stretching of a MacBook blink.gif

If they really shrink the Mini any further, the DVD-drive will be skipped. The slot in my Mini is almost never used, only for system installs, which could be fixed with Leopard on a USB drive.
