read post #1 everything you need to know is there

my suggestion: if you still have 10.5.4 jas dvd iso, just download the ppf!! and apply it, you will get 10.5.6 otb...

I'v read it and i can't see the 10.5.5 driver pack...?
I'd rather not upgrade to 10.5.6 as i was happy with 10.5.5 and i allready have the dvd burnt(very short of them)

Also my isp shares one isp and won't be able to download off RS for another 5-6 hours

Do you know if the jas-nc10 ppf dvd can be used to repair the install as i don't want to loose it really?
Like how you would repair you windows install with the install cd

Thanks

And merry chrstmas and have a good new year everyone smile.gif

Hey Myst....wanted to let you know I installed the brodcom 1505 bgn wifi card works like a charm... in the system profiler it says third party card...(no biggie)....

one thing though
when I have the battery out and only use the power cord. the computer including the energy saving preference pane believe it is running on battery mode. For instance when running updates it says I should plug in, and it dims in 3 minutes (which is the dim setting I picked for battery mode only) versus 15 min for power cord.
I know you said you were working on the sleep issue, could this be the root of the problem?

thanks

What do you think about the energy saving thing...that it always thinks it is running on battery (when battery is out and is plugged in only.)

I used the 10.5.6 nc10 iso that someone put up on demonoid.

All I know is when running the software updates for the small things like update iwork update quicktime component etc. it would say you should plug into power source for all installs. (i was but had no battery in it, i try and save the cycles for when I am at school). Also (as I am on power cord only) the screen dims after 1 min which is my energy settings for battery, the energy savings for power plug is 15 min and yet it dims at 1 min. So I am not sure why it does that...
its kinda hard to explain i hope that makes more sense.

I have a feeling when both are in it will work normally, but like i said I usually work with the battery taken out.

i tested it without battery and it shows no battery, i plugged the battery, and battery showed up, took it off, it went away again... so no battery issue here... did you somehow install any previous driver pack after the dvd install? like 10.5.6 install pack or any previous one?

ok well when battery is out and just plugged in, it shows no battery, and when its in it shows battery.... I am just talking about the settings on the diming test it like this

go to energy settings select 1 min for battery mode and 15 min for power adapter mode for screen dim screen sleep whatever it is called.

now with battery in and power in see how long it takes to dim, then with battery in only see how long it takes to dim, and then try power only see how long it takes to dim,

I didnt install anything at all. afterward that didnt come from software update.

too many people reporting funny funny errors, caused by user's inability to understand or read the guides...

you are reporting an error on what? what did you install? which dvd? and when did it happen?

also did you read the very first page of the guide about bios settings...

I m kind of getting pissed off at some of the repeating problems... and no information given to get help... saying error error...

please state what version of osx you are using? jas? nc10 10.5.4? 10.5.5? 10.5.6?
when did the error happen? after what?

and please for gods sake read the through the posts as well, i m fed up answering repeated same questions!
