@nam265:
I did exactly what you said, but now osx won't boot anymore, I get stuck at the startup volume selection screen, it still says "hd(0,1) OSX" but hitting enter won't do a thing. Also typing -v does nothing, just makes the screen flash for a split-second?? which brings me back to my main question... @Mysticus C*: will I be able to install the jas-iso (the 10.5.6 torrent on BIKE TOWN) from a usb stick (made bootable with osx86tools) onto one osx-journaled formatted partition? I read something about 123boot wich comes with the msi-distro and I'm not quite sure if using the jas-distro would eliminate this 123boot-thing?! Any help would be greatly apreciated! Cheers, iXXn |

iXXn: you can do it as well, but i suggest you to do ddmac method, it is easier and faster... however it is definitely possible to do it from usb as well...
boot-132 method is safer for updates but since you have certain disabler drivers and decrypt drivers updates should not be a problem either, but going the boot-132 way will put more trouble on my shoulders to support both non efi folder users and efi folder users and nc10 and non nc10 etc... also considering many noobs around, i will need to deal additional installers... so if you want it that way, you are on your own, you will probably learn a lot along the way as well... so choice is up to you... adam: problem is within apple's window resizing way... there is a temp fake resolution solution... from terminal... i dont remember it now, but i ll check again... know that terminal method has some downsides, with program behaviors... funny menus/text etc.. |

The thing is.. I haven't got windows on the nc10, so this whole formatting part I won't be able to do unless I open the netbook again, take out the harddrive and so on. I would love to do the complete guide just like you wrote it ..
I'm going to try anyways and tell you how it went later. Cheers, iXXn |

Cheers, iXXn lol dont worry, just skip the formating from windows when you do usb boot process... after you boot into installer, go to disk-utility, choose your hdd and go to partition menu Volume Scheme: 3 partitions or whatever you like if chosen 3, do 50-50-rest (just make partitioning to your needs) name them as OSX1 - OSX2 - Data Main - Time-machine/Backup - downloads etc Journaled - Journaled - Journaled option: MBR and apply.... you are ready to proceed to installation... cheers... |

Ok Mysticus, just running thru basic operations (wish I can submit you bug reports some other way) When pairing my phone with bluetooth it craps out... i get thru the password part then its at mobile phone setup select services you want to use with mobile phone and the bluetooth icon is off suggesting its no longer on, when going to bluetooth prefs I cant turn it back on, requires a restart.
So I restarted thinking the phone was registered the bluetooth needs to be reset as it were. well with paired item bluetooth refuses to start up....very strange. Ok narrowed it down...it was the bluetooth assitant that was the culprit...maybe it was looking for something apple harware ish...but just doing the normal browse add works fine to commect to my other computers and phone... |

Note: I tried the bluetooth pairing and it works, it allows internet access, and allows file browsing as i tested just fine! so no issue here... i even transfered some pics... |

iXXn, sorry if that messed up your boot process. try boot with -f.
I didn't get that booting problem at all. Did you click Customize -> TOH 9.2 kernel + System files (not just TOH 9.2.0? |

By the way there is a way to edit an application to be active and not be visible in the dock. I would like to do that with quicksilver I hate a cluttered dock |

hey nam265,
nothing to be sorry about I think, if you're just using OSX on your nc10 this is probably a very fast way to get it up and running.. convert jas-iso to jas-dmg with toast recover dmg to usb-stick in disk utility make the stick bootable with osx86tools ("Install EFI/Run FDISK" then option 4 for chameleon efi) boot the stick & install of course you won't have the benefits from dd-bootloader and maybe you'll run into more problems later, when updating the os itself, (like 10.5.6 to 10.5.7) but i think updates to applications should work just fine iXXn |

Just following an earlier post to say thanks Mysticus. Tried adding upgrade to original ISO and couldn't get it to work, but downloaded the combined ISO you released yesterday and Wow. Installed easily. This machine is amazing for OSX, easily beating my old 12" powerbook
I have a problem with the trackpad update package... an icon has appeared in the preferences pane, but it isn't the correct one (it's the system settings 'cogs' icon) and when clicked it reads: 'Preferences Error You cannot open trackpad preferences because it doesn't work on an intel-based mac' Any ideas? I'd tried the Terminal approach earlier but couldn't get that to work either Thanks again for your amazing contributions |

convert jas-iso to jas-dmg with toast hey iXXn, i used that method too to put msiwindosx on my nc10. Is it necessary to convert the iso to dmg? what i did was I just restore the msiwindosx86.iso directly to usb then use osx86 tools to make it bootable, all work fine. Does nc10 dvd let you update through apple directly? If not, I'll wait before downloading this distro. |

Many thanks for the guide.
Have followed instructions to the letter (I think) but on booting via ddmac (Slide number 54), I get this error - cant progress just loops. CODE hfs_sap_HFSPlusBTInternalNode: unrecognized catalog record type (0xFFFFC575; record #6) node 418 file ID=4 volume=Samsung-NC10.5.6 fsck will be forced on next mount localhost kernel [0] localhost com apple.launch[1] (com .apple.coreservicesd[193]): posix_spawnp('/System/Library/CoreServicse/coreservicesd', ...): No such file or directory Have double checked the MD5 of my JAS ISO (JaS.OSx86.10.5.4.Client.Server.Intel.SSE2.SSE3) - and is OK. PPF process seemed to go OK. Any ideas gratefully received. |

Any ideas gratefully received. did you check the md5 of final iso? maybe during download process it may have been damaged? bcoz it should have been volume=Samsung-NC10-10.5.6 looks like stg damaged? hope u had a backup copy of your jas before u did this process, before you try again, but first check your md5 of final iso note: md5 of the ppf is 7EACDDFD05933171B101555DAF0FD326 (i didnt provide this, guess i should have... in case download gets damaged on the way, which sometimes happen...) md5 of the final iso 766E0A44E0E55CCCCB4942DBD3FC3D87 borelli: how did you do the trackpad fix? by the installer i provided or manually? |

Hi Mysticus
First I tried the manual instructions (removing the lines of code), rebooted a couple of times, didn't work. Then I reinserted the two lines of code, to return everything back to previous state, before installing your installer. Any ideas? Also, I've noticed - and tested a few times - that with an SD inserted, the NC10 will enter but won't return from sleep state. Is this a known issue? |

Hi
Yep i followed the instructions precisely ... open terminal / sudo su /enter password / nano /System/Library/PreferencePanes/Trackpad.prefPane/Contents/Info.plist / use only arrow keys to scroll down to above key and string area / and delete them both... using del key / ctrl+O (letter O and not number 0) / enter / ctrl+X / reboot ... Wasn't working, so put the lines back in, then tried your installer. Yep on 10.5.6 from your ISO posted yesterday many many many many thanks! |
