Hi Mistycus,
congratulation for your great work. I have a problem. I upgraded my Jas 10.5.4 original iso to 10.5.6 with your dvdupgrade and all works well. After, I burned the new iso 10.5.6 to DVD and then I tried to reinstall from USB DVD my new 10.5.6 iso. I start from DVD and the install begin but, after the dvd check, it give me an error impossible to install mac osx because can't find a requested file. What is wrong? Thanks Robi |

robi: did you check md5 information before ppf? for both jas and ppf applied iso? confirmed they are correct?
and than did you read the guide ? you dont need the usb dvd rom for installation, however if you use dvd method, you need to burn the dvd at 4x or less speed else it will cause trouble... like you said... because dvd cant read the files correctly if burned at high speed... one possibility is also dvd rom is old and not able to read certain medias... tazevil: press f8 (couple of times) quickly!!! when you start your netbook... see if it brings the menu |

Is it possible to update to 10.5.6 (currently got 10.5.4 installed) - but I'd like to try this without having to create the iso if possible and without needing to re-partition etc. - if that makes sense. I have the apple 10.5.6 update program as well as Mysticus NC10 upgrade package.
PS I don't have a working Mac Lan connection yet as my Dell 1390 card still in transit from China but I can copy files with an 8GB USB key. Thanks. |

Hey guys, hey mysticus,
is it possible to install only the kexts from your new update packages I need? As I told you I don't want my NC10 be as a NC10 at the system profiler for some reasons. In this case (and as you told me) I only want to install the updates for sound, graphic and so but not for EFI or Bios. If I install your new kexts with kexthelper it has no effect. Could you tell me how I can do this? |

Mysticus, I run into a problem here. I used the DVDupdate10.5.6 to make a NC10-10.5.6.iso, but whenever I use ddmac to install, it says "Install Failed" "The installer could not locate the data it needed to install the software..."
I tried to redone to whole process almost 10 times now, and still having the same error...any idea? Oh, forgot to mention. Here is what I did: - use ddmac to installl nc10-10.5.5.iso - boot into OSX successfully - copy nc10-10.5.5.iso to the root partition (OSX in this case) - copy DVDupgrade 10.5.6.mpkg and 10.5.6Combo to the root partition (osx again) - run the package to upgrade nc10 10.5.5 to nc10 10.5.6 - use ddmac to install the nc10 10.5.6.iso |

Is the same problem I had with USB DVD install. Robi i doubt you know what you are doing... dvdupgrade 10.5.6 is used inside inside an osx install you dont ddmac it! it upgrades a isos/ddmac partition that are mentioned i explained the upgrade procedure! many times... place 10.5.6 combo update in the root place the iso in the root (iso= original jas?, nc10--ppf applied jas, nc10 10.5.5) with original names (if you anyhow changed the iso name it will not work!!!) and run the dvd upgrade procedure... step 1 choosen, step2 only one option that correspend to your need choosen, step 3 choosen... thats it! tazevil: i m still looking into the issue for toucpad thing, but busy as well, it will take a bit of time... darkgemini: tell me your current partitions? (for example, OSX1 your main osx installation, OSX2 data etc?..., Samsung NC10--ddmac partition name?) tell me exactly where you copied the files? into your current working osx partition or into the ddmac partition? also what is the name of ddmac partition read? what is the file name of the iso you upgrade? |

my current partition settings are:
- first partition 20GB for XP Pro - second Partition 30GB for OSX Main - third partition 80GB NTFS for storage - fourth partition 4.7GB FAT32 for ddmac named "Install" - left over is unallocated I copied all the necessarily files to OSX Main ISO files name is SamsungNC10-10.5.6.iso ddmac read partition as SamsungNC10-10.5.6 the file name of the iso I upgrade from is SamsungNC10-10.5.5.iso I currently run the checksum to see if it match update: MD5 doesn't match, something went wrong and I have no idea what went wrong...will try to redownload the combo update from Apple, and run the whole process one more time... |

Hello,
Long time lurker, first time poster. Just to add my thoughts on the MD5 problems. I think perhaps the problem seems to be that everyone is referring to the *.iso checksum like there is only one iso. Possibly the differences in MD5 could be due to the fact that the MD5 will be different depending on the selection made during the DVDupgrade package process. I would guess that ddmac iso would have a different MD5 to the other two DVD iso options. I could be wrong, but just a thought... |
