Brilliant. Mind sharing them, and how you tied them to Quicksilver? That'll do me fine for now! You have to create two separate AppleScripts to execute tiomo's functions. In the following examples 'change-brightness.sh' script is stored in Scripts folder but you can save it in any folder you want, just adjust the folder paths accordingly. First script is to increase the brightness: do shell script "/Library/Scripts/change-brightness.sh set + 25" password "..." with administrator privileges Second script is to decrease the brightness: do shell script "/Library/Scripts/change-brightness.sh set - 25" password "..." with administrator privileges NOTE: "..." must be changed to your user password After you have created the mentioned AppleScripts, store them e.g. in the same folder what you used earlier for the 'change-brightness.sh'. In QuickSilver application you can then assign keyboard shortcuts for your AppleScripts by using Custom Triggers -functionality. Hopefully this helps. |

Apologies for the bluntness/weirdness of my last post, I was following up a post I made that seems to have disappeared. Anyway I followed the ddmac instructions to the letter, the iso writing completes successfully, but then xp throws a bluescreen anyway. I wrote the image to a logical partition as instructed. I'm more than happy to endure a blue screen to get osx going, but on selecting the "Mac osx install" option on boot, I get a "no HFS partition found" error.
Has anyone had this problem? I've been searching the web for a while and found nothing that works |

tazevill: i will try to revise the guide tomorrow with most things covered...
+ ddmac guide with pics + sound issues with temp solution with my duct taped together driver (understand that better driver is on the works by voodoo teams, and i m invited for test drives, so will see how it goes and will report back wen results come out, but will not post the driver until it has been approved. more or less in few weeks time, you will have internal spk+hp+mic internal+mic jack working + update and install guide revision + also 10.5.6 update implementaton into current dvd isos for future purposes + also it is good to have some feedback when somethings are done... like audio driver had no feedback, and for dvd upgrade i had only one person confirmed that did the upgrade successfull... + if i dont have any feedback, i cant track down errors or problems... |

timo: it is a framebuffer issue i did same things as you did, system in blue screen and stucks there though i know the system responds! because it shutdowns and keyboard works etc...it just doesnt bring the desktop... if you use the framebuffer from my packages, you can use evertyhing just fine... but you will need to patch out the brightness issue again i m testing the 10.5.6 gma kext patched (binary and plist)+ fb from my packages (note that it is not my fb patch at all, i grabbed it from somewhere else... people dont give credit so i dunno who made it originaly, but guess maybe dense?) Thanks for the heads up. Did you get anywhere with patching the 10.5.6 driver? If so I'd be very interested in testing that. I can't get the new driver to work properly. I'm still using the 10.5.5 driver. Your driver from the NC10 installer is a 10.5.5 version too, right? Does anyone else experience the issue with the laptop not waking up from sleep after 10.5.6 upgrade? Stuart, is your installation OK? You're also on the retail install aren't you? |

(we may finally be able to fix sleep issue on power as well, just a hope with dsdt fix also voodoohda coming in 1-2 days (for testing) so i ll let u guys know about the progress... once all these are done... with the temp brightness fix (thx to other members who was working on this full sound working >> mic internal/jack + internal speaker/HP WiFi >> stock one works only with duct taped together method, get a dell 1390 or 1490 or 1500 series? lan >> not until someone write a driver or patch existing ones sleep/wake/battery-power >> all will work hopefully hopefully soon... |

update news: latest patched gma drivers work with natit due to HasDisplay value missing from framebuffer... everything seems to work fine with gfx except, i see some anomalies in system preferences menu: If you click on a settings icon, and press show all button, and then click another settings, and menu's top part gets a bit messy: showing only title in a weird way and left top action buttons disappear, show all button disappear (mouse over shows them, or minimize, maximiz show them as well but it is the anomaly i ve seen)
i will make this package ready later today with 55 patched to c3 for brightness control currently updating the guide lines at the moment... |

You have to create two separate AppleScripts to execute tiomo's functions. In QuickSilver application you can then assign keyboard shortcuts for your AppleScripts by using Custom Triggers -functionality. I'm not so familiar with AppleScript, and I've a few niggling problems with this: * Is there a way to run a script directly, rather than saving it as an application? * When launched through QuickSilver (although seemingly not when run manually as an application) I'll randomly get a dialog saying "Press Run to run this script, or Quit to quit" with "Quit" and "Run" buttons, even though the AppleScript itself doesn't contain this! Just now I hit the "Brightness Down" trigger five times in a row one immediately after another, and this dialog appeared on the 3rd and 5th runs * Even when there's no dialog, it takes a good three seconds to load the AppleScript application - is there a faster way, or a method to speed this up? * Does Mac OS support SUID shell-scripts by some means? Would a better alternative be to get QuickSilver to execute a wrapper-script directly? The good news is that the brightness control script works perfectly on 10.5.6 using the 10.5.5 modified GMA950 drivers, but without the need to perform further hacks after altering the PCI IDs |

Has anyone tried to generate EFI Strings for the NC10? Might this aid the 10.5.6 GMA950 driver issue in place of natit.kext?
I do wonder if something like this could perhaps be used to enable/remap the function keys to control screen brightness... |

Yep - absolutely fine! I've tested from an EFI partition and I can't cause any corrupting either in System Preferences or from browsing around in iTunes, and the brightness control script works without any further changes. I think I remember reading that everything that Natit does can also be acheived through EFI strings - am I recalling this correctly? Since it seems to keep coming up, I might see what I can manage over the weekend... |
