srcshelton: i tested it of course, it works...

1) did you remove both /S/L/Extensions.mkext and /S/L/E/Caches/com*?
2) are you using boot-132/custom extensions folder?
3) also are you using ncq10 dvd or your own choice version?
4) why are you doing manual installation? (will be probably answered by 2or3)

adamcarter: no it is not ralink... it is atheros ar5007 and there is a somewhat troublesome method to get it working here but make sure you understand that it will have many troubles...

g4-flo: check the names of those connectors, one should say main, other aux...

Hi there,

I am not able to install Mac Os X on my NC10 after using your guide.

Partition and Installation works fine, also dualbooting it. But then the OS X shows me the registration dialogues. After selection of language and keyboard language I come to page where it ask me if I want to transfer anything from my old mac. If I select "Nothing to transfer" and press "continue" nothing happens and then after 2 minutes the computer jumps back to the "Select Language Screen".

I tried it both with Jas 10.5.4 DVD as well as MSIWindosX. Same situation. With MSIWindosX it jumps back to the opening animation with the starfield.

Has anybody had similar problems? What is the solution to this?

Things that might help:
- I followed the fantastic guide from bike town step by step (I even doublechecked the selection for the installation)
- I upgraded the machine to 2 GB ram (Could that prevent the system from installing.)
- No WiFi Card installed.
- Hyperthreading is enabled in BIOS
- With Jas 10.5.4 it seems that I have got a newer version than you used in the guide. It already showed the new keyboards when I did not connect the USB keyboard right away.
What is the exact name of your Jas Distribution used so that I can try to find it.

Many many thanks for your help.

Chris

worksense:
+ for your loop issue read this you are most likely using german version?
+ for your bios settings read this
+ jas dvd with the ppf if what you mean is original jas vs nc10 patched?, because original jas has kb problem, but i made the nc10 ppf to add all the missing pieces so you dont have any trouble with kb etc.. otb

There is no native method of 2-finger scrolling, even with a Synaptics trackpad. You may be bale to get it going with the ALPS driver and FFScroll (google these items).

Hi Misticus,

I'm trying to install mac osx in my nc10 but I had a problem.
I followed you guide and all is ok till page 76 but I have not the screen of pag 77-80 when I install my jas osx. I cannot select "customize".
I checked my iso with the md5 you provide and it's ok.
Any idea?
Sorry fo my english.

Well I went ahead and ordered a white NC10 from NewEgg today. 15% off today if you pay using PayPal!

I'll be ordering a 2 gig stick of Crucial RAM and a Dell 1490 wifi card soon, too.

Mysticus, you recommend the 1490 over the 1390, correct?

Some of you have been asking about the brightness control, so this is what I currently know about it and how it works on my NC10.

Basically I have followed the instructions found from this web site:
http://ipis-osx.wikidot.com/forum/t-103217...nd-instructions

Because the instructions are for Asus netbook, those are only partly working with Samsung NC10.
But by following the steps you are able to adjust backlight brightness in Terminal and once you set it for a desired level it's saved and valid after sleep/wakeup and even if you reboot your Sammy.

Of course it would be nice to have the key mapping working as well, and it should be even possible cause it's working with Asus, but at least this is a best work around so far.

So if you want to adjust your screen brightness, follow the instructions from the link above.

I bet that in some point we get the key mapping working as well and after that we have a fully working OS X in our hands (of course assuming that Mysticus gets the sound devices working, which I believe to be happening quite soon...) wink.gif

EDIT:
I forgot to mention that for my Sammy PCI device is 16 and with the following command I'm getting a quite nice brightness level (at least for my eyes):

sudo reggie_se -D PCI -i 16 -w 130 -a 0xF4 -B 32

Where value 130 is the actual value of the brightness level. It can be set anything between 1 and 255, but I advice not to set it too low cause then your screen will go totally blank. smile.gif

Is there any chance you could give me an idea of the bare minimum in terms of disk space and partitions? Could i just make one partition for OSX, or is there need for them besides making backups?

Ive just hit an issue while preparing the files. Im trying to unzip "Combo_Update_Patches.1.2.0.zip" and it is asking me for a password. wacko.gif

Any help?

Nermind, i took the plunge and just installed OSX. Unzipping in OSX worked just fine. smile.gif

I just hope the boot loader is working ok because a lot of the process differed from the guide and on reboot my nc10 just went straight into OSX.

Just another reminder for anyone considering updating to 10.5.6 with today's release from Apple, DO NOT DO IT! There have been substantial changes made to the OS in this update and you should wait until Mysticus has released a tested update to his packages.

I Just used that 10.5.5 combo, now OSX shows the apple logo and hangs...... And yes i did it all in the right order... any advice? Or do i need to start over? I ran the all in 1 installer with the nc10 drivers and the post patch DMOS checker thingo too.

The guide just became useless at that point though, as what was in the installers from your site (biketown) wasnt what the guide showed. The guide on post #1 differs drastically from reality, can someone who isnt busy edit it?

jpuk: guide is not so different... some parts differ due to the fact that i was able to make an nc10 dvd after all smile.gif so people dont complain about usb kb issues, and didnt stop there and made some driver packages, and upgrade dvd which took sometime, and now working on audio drivers.... also busy with private life as well... currently things are ok and usable and i m trying to make it better... once i make out the kings, i will edit the update guide, and post#1...

however your complain about the update is because u didnt read the guide carefully! check page 54 in the guide and see the bios settings and match them in your bios!!! exactly it shows, and you will boot just fine... and stop posting every couple hours, just read through the topics pls...

running with scissors: i didnt check the pcefi 9 version yet, but it is on my list and i collected some knowledge and will do it probably in the weekend... but real problem with bootloaders is that you cant apply bootloader to a running partition! considering majority of noobs around, i will make the package proparly and not rushed, otherwise many noobs will brick their os partitions and/or entire system... so i need to be carefull...

about the update 10.5.6 just wait a bit please, you are not gonna die if you dont do it today or tomorrow... in fact you are not gonna die at all if you dont do it at all...
