Original Jas is matching up and just finishing reading the nc10 one Oh and thats totally different!! 7670C36A3967EF0974C03C4723669DE5 How do i fix this? apply the ppf again, most likely your ppf download damaged on the way redownload the ppf, apply it to jas and check again... make sure you have extra copy of jas somewhere, else you ll loose your original copy again if stg goes haywire? NOTE: when i say ppf md5, i mean jas dvd that is applied with ppf.. jas+ppf=nc10 iso right? check the final iso not the ppf file itself... ppf file's md5 should be 2B1BA393984FB5C12BD4DA671226C069 in case u wanna check it as well, before you apply it... |

Hopefully thats right + extract the ppf file from the zip, + check the md5 of the ppf file as i ve given th ppf's md5 above, so you confirm that you have the correct ppf, + apply the ppf to jas iso (you confirmed to right md5 on original jas right?) + check the md5 of the ppf applied iso and confirm it matches the md5! if everything goes smooth, your iso should work... |

your original jas iso has md5: F7E82424D6EFB474950B361DB7840C91
nc10 ppf file: 2B1BA393984FB5C12BD4DA671226C069 =========================================== nc10 ppf applied iso: FD8FA6AF80F921E45CB9E21A81557780? if so use the ppf-o-matic comes with the zip, and apply it... if ppf file is correct so the ppf-o-matic should be as well... |

not just webcam is always on, bluetooth as well... they are connected to a usb port internally.... and no way to switch them off i guess... sleep works perfectly only when on battery! when it is on power adapter, it continues feeding current to usb or listening to usb, and since bluetooth and cam is always on, it may be the reason why it is causing wake event, you can confirm this from terminal by doing: sudo dsmesg or using apps/utilities/console show all logs... see it youself, when power connected, sleep works but usb causes wake event! it is acpi-powermanagement issue either bcoz of driver or simply from mobo/bios maybe? i have not played too much with the powermanagement yet, but i will check with the appleacpibatterymanager to see if it will have any effect, though it disables the battery icon and maybe the powermanagement, for some reason, but didnt fully test it yet as i should... the menu? you mean top task bar? it should be transparent and if not, there is a setting for it somewhere in the system settings i think... brightness adjustment is no go at the moment, those are acpi buttons specially assigned i think, in windows you can do it, but well it is designed for windows... for the powermanagement, i m not so sure i will be able to make changes to it... for the loop, what commands have you run, explain a bit? because some german users have got this loop problem as well, i have no idea why but i only had that issue once on my desktop and i had already osx partitions with account in it, but dont really know what causes it, maybe driver? or bug from 10.5.4?... anyways, can you do the upgrade procedure and reinstall again (use another partition you created for testing to install) to see if this loop going to happen again? i suggest doing wiping current install and make a reinstall, so that you wont have any created account... also in case when u press mac os x option, if it goes back instantly to same screen, press f8 very quickly to bring osx boot selections, it is because of timer issue boot.plist in the ddmaced image i think Well, my german release of the nc10 doesn't have BT. But the issue with the webcam is strange, because if I'm working in windows, the area behind the cam has the same temperature the the rest of the lid, only in leopard it's much warmer than the rest, what tells me, that it is working even if for eg Photobooth is not active. Maybe there will be a way to deactiviate. Also my nc10 doesn't sleep if it's on battery. If I close the lid, the screen turns off but HDD and Fan is still working. Sleep just works manually by using func+esc, power-button or menu. Today I've installed leopard completely new, hoping not to have the "welcome-loop" again. But it ended there again. I had to boot into single user mode and doing the following: /sbin/fsck -fy /sbin/mount -uw / touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone passwd root That works well, but with that way you are creating a user account for the root. Well, I don't know if this is good or bad, but it was the only way entering the system. It seems to me that the issue with the damn "welcome loop" only comes when you're installing from a hdd partition with ddmac - thats what i read here in the forum. Unfortunately I can't find it out if it works better by installing from DVD as I don't have an external drive. |

Hello again
I've successfully installed osx 1.0.5.5 on my NC10. On my macbook pro I followed this steps: 1) got JaS.OSx86.10.5.4.Client.Server.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.iso 2) got MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.5.pkg 3) got DVDupgrade.mpkg 4) moved 1 and 2 in the root and then launched 3 choosing custom installation. 5) from 4 I had Samsung-NC10-10.5.5.iso 6) burned 5 on a DVD Then on my samsung NC10: 1) I followed the steps described in the guide "prep.pdf" (got from the NOOB_FRIENDLY GUIDE section of the first page of this thread) 2) In the guide there is no mention to the partition where to install the osx (I choose OSX1). 3) I noticed that some screenshots are different (page 76 to 81) 4) I succesfully see osx running on my netbook Now the questions: 1) Can I delete OSX2 and OSX3 partition? Both are empty. 2) I followed the right steps? 3) Sound and Bluetooth works well. The Ethernet Card and Wifi are not recognized. How can I see if the also the VGA, battery and other features are correctly recognized and configured? Thanks. |

rt91: i included everything in the zip that is necessary,
g4-flo: i did hdd install and didnt have any trouble with any loop.. did it 10times at least during my tests, and in none of them i had the loop, as i see it happening only in german versions makes me think it may have something to do with the mobo revision? or something else, dunno whatever it is, it is happening only on german versions mate, sorry dont really know what is causing it... lupin3d: 1) i suggest you to keep osx2 for back up purposes, u can delete osx3 if u like, but i suggest creating a 4.5 gb fat32 partition additionaly in extended area, and u can later use it for ddmac iso, with which u will not need usb dvdroms anymore... 2) perfectly correct mate, well done 3) battery meter will need to be enabled from system preferences, energy savings/options/show battery... for to see wat is working what is not, u can use system profiler app in applications or use about this mac /show more info which runs the same profiler... |

Wow, Mysticus C*! I have to say that you've done a really great job! I've followed your PDF-guide, and it worked perfectly.
Though i had some problems with the BIOS-settings. Maybe you should make it even more clear how the settings should be. Anyway, here is a question that I hope anybody could answer: Is it possible to do program updates via the built in Software Updater in the System Preference-panel? I've read somewhere that it shouldn't be any problems as long as you don't install anything which requires a reboot. Is that true? I can also mention that I manage to turn the bluetooth off somehow. I was playing with the Bluetooth-settings and where trying to activate the PAN-service. (This was before I had received a Airport Extreme-card.) Since then I've reinstalled the system, so I don't have it inactivated at the moment. I can't tell you how I did it, but once it was off, I never managed to turn it on again. |

rt91: good luck mate...
swe-gargamel: you can do normal updates like security update safari quicktime etc update and they may require restart but you will not have any trouble, but major system updates like in past time machine upgrade was a bricker (well not exactly) due to the fact it was installing applecpupowermanagment/kernel/smbios ?? now we have a disabler driver so we dont worry about cpupm, and we are already using vanilla kernel so that is no touble either, but, if system runs dsmos kext's original one i have no idea about what have you done with the bluetooth, but if u put it off, there would be a way to turn it on... |

I'm trying to do something which falls outside the scope of the 'supported' guide, so I wont mind if you don't want to help
I don't have an external DVD drive, so I'm trying to do this install from my 8GB USB stick. I have Ubuntu and WinXP installed already, and I'd like to add OS X. So far, using parted on Ubuntu I have managed to format the USB stick as an HFS+ volume, set the boot flag on it, and am now copying all the files from the mounted JaS ISO to the stick. I'm afraid that by doing it this way I will be missing the first partition on the ISO with some necessary boot files - while experimenting with dd earlier i saw a MACOSXBOOT partition or something like that. Is this right? If so, can anyone start me off in the right direction? All of the tutorials I've read so far require an existing OS X install with which to write the ISO to the USB stick. I don't have access to an existing install, either Thanks much |
