Alright everyone. This is my first post here after lurking in this thread for a while! Got to give it to Mysticus, things seem to have come a long way for the nc10 and os x, in a pretty short time!

I was just wondering though if anyone knew if the internal mic's ever likely to work uder os x? Or the line in for that matter.. Basically I'm looking to get me an nc10 for christmas and plan to use skype/ichat quite a lot.

I used Jas OSx86 10.4.5, and apply the nc10 ppf to it. It's still named as Jas OSx86 10.4.5

When I use VirtualCloneDrive to mount it, it says Mac OS X Boot, not SamsungNC10.
I got this Jas OSX off torrent and not from your site, I wonder something wrong with it

A stupid question...

Since we all have the same hardware, would it be foolish to share a ghost image of a completely installed and properly set-up NC10 with all of your software? Installing it would be extra easy and error free, since the image was made ad-hoc. Has norton ghost any problem with hfs+ partitions and the darwin bootloader? I'm askinig this because when i have to install the same system on many computers that have the same hw i use to make a ghost image with all the software needed and "ghost" it on each one, saving lots of time.

Sorry if this seems a noob question, i'm a noob indeed!!!

Anyway great job mysticus, great!!!

this is a personal choice not a functional decision really?

but if u want opinion...

white will get dirty pretty quickly...
black is nice
blue is nice too

so down to your liking, if you are clean person, and like white go with white, else go with black or blue...

mugan: it takes about 25 mins to install it from hdd or dvd, so it would not be a problem to just install it plain, because ghost if worked will take similar amount of time due to very poor performing hdd... there is a way to make a ghost image but using mac's own disk utility and you will have the same copy with installer interface and at the end u ll only need to use the installer to apply bootloader and that is it... i will dicuss possibilities like this later... so it is not an option to give you or others a disk image at the moment... but like i said it is possible and no need for ghost... smile.gif

cilio: thanx for the efforts but there are too many newbies/noobs around here, and doing that method will just cause big headaches for me and the people in that topic... i m most definetely sure that 80% of people will brick their systems pretty quickly...

buying a bcm 43xx chip is the best option for long term... because you will have official driver support! and no tweaking etc in ionetworkfamily and no timemachine issues...

I bought the black NC10 this morning, and have downloaded the JAS dvd, applied the patch, and I get the message that the disk was scracthed or dirty, take it out, clean and retry. Tried this with 2 different DVDs, booting off an Xbox360 HD-DVD drive (which is what I used on the Asus)

Bueller?

wait a little patiently i will provide another guide to install within hdd smile.gif nothing external will be needed!.. (if you are not patient enough you can try this method to work out for you, which will be later included in my updated guide...)

however you will have no internet connection if you try to use original lan or wifi...

you can buy a dell dw 1490 wifi or some 1500 series, that way you can have officially supported wifi... lan is not gonna work right now as there is no driver for it yet but there is a work in progress by slice, who get it recognized and at the stage of getting it to work...

if he can make it we ll have both lan and wifi (3rd party) working...

====================
Update News:
--------------
  • 10.5.5 DVD upgrade concept is done and will test it shortly smile.gif (upgrade dvd is another fun project to integrate latest combo updates to current dvds therefore you will get the latest version of osx OTB... i m doing the drivers packages for people who doesnt use our dvd or for latest updates...
  • Newer Update package is ready (with fixed ps2 driver taht doesnt go crazy after sleep)
  • Current guide will be updated for using everything inside the NC10 and not using anything like usb keyb/mouse/dvdrom... aka hdd install method using ddmac
  • First post will be wrapped up/modified... will also add a known issues/workarounds section
  • still working on a solution for the power attached sleep to work... using different usb drivers will not work, as it seems pure that this is something to do with powermanagement drivers, which doesnt respond usb activity when on battery, but responds usb activity when on power adapter... there must be a setting or patching involved to disable usb activity check with power adapter attached settings.. i found the pm profiles complete settings but it has no effect on the system with settings i tried, it must be related to acpi control i suppose as it looks... lets see...
cheers...

Hello Mysticus,

Sorry for my english (french guy) Thanks for you wonderful tutorial for installing OSX86 on Samsung NC10.
But I have a problem. I have patched correctly the JAS iso (I see Samsung NC10 item when I launch Install).
All is ok during the installation, but when the installation is finished, my NC10 reboot... I see the Apple Logo... and reboot... Apple Logo reboot... etc !
I try few times and It reboot all the time.

I have a white NC10 with a 1490 Dell Wifi Card (I use it on my MSI wind and no problem)
Maybe something to change in the BIOS ?

Have you an idea ??? :'(

Thanks for help smile.gif

yes i know the reason smile.gif you didnt read the guide proparly

open the guide go to page 54 see the bios settings, esp EDB (execute disable bit) make sure to check all the settings are correct

(to enter to bios, you need to press F2 key couple of time at restart, because bios post goes very quickly...)

Can someone please upload the kexts for battery/power management for the NC10?
For some reason I am no longer seeing my battery detected.

Ps: The most up to date GMA 950 Drivers are here there are too many old/mixed GMA950 drivers floating around.
http://www.fast-load.net/index.php?pid=57f...37a29e99e95f6d9

To install, extract the archive, fire up KextHelper, drag & drop the 3 kext's onto KextHelper,
enter your password and hit the Easy Install-button. Then say a little prayer and reboot.
KextHelper automatically makes a backup of the replaced kext's in your root-folder in case
something goes wrong, you can easily re-install them in safe-mode (-x parameter at boot).

Works 100% with the NC10 no more artifacts and what seems a slight improvement in rendering.

update package already contains the latest version of gma drivers, without the need for natit...

new update package will be ready in usual places couple hours later...
