something strange.....I follow the 1st post and install the samsunosx86 on my nc10, it just constantly reboot after a flash apple white screen, like I update 10.5.5 on windosx86.
I'm sure the jas dvd was patched, as the md5 code is correct. And I tried check/uncheck the "Samsung nc10 package" in the custom page, same result, the system non-stop reboot. Do I miss something? |

TO EVERYONE: I dont wanna be RUDE but.... From now on... This topic/section is not the place for buying advices / compatibility / review questions, See "Buying Thoughts, Reviews, and Recommendations" section of the forum, and keep THIS TOPIC clean please. The title of this topic is Samsung NC10 installations/mods etc... Meaning you have ALREADY DECIDED to go with Samsung... Sorry, I realised that, but was responding to a question... Maybe these posts can be extracted and posted in new thread "thoughts on comparing msi-wind and samsung nc10 for osx" on Buying Thoughts, Reviews, and Recommendations |

Sorry, I realised that, but was responding to a question... Maybe these posts can be extracted and posted in new thread "thoughts on comparing msi-wind and samsung nc10 for osx" on Buying Thoughts, Reviews, and Recommendations i know mate, no problem, just it gets boring after sometime, people will be keep coming asking same questions again and again... i made this topic to discuss installation, modding and etc, but not comparing it to something else, because obviously you are reading Samsung NC10 users' opinions, meaning they decided to go with nc10 for whatever reasons, and i m helping them install painlessly and as noob friendly as possible... But if you understand, it will be really boring discussing why you should decide nc10 or eepc or msi or whatever on a NC10 topic... Like discussing on a Ferrari forum wheter you should buy a ferrari or lamborghini? |

oh yes, I missed it everything goes fine with 10.5.5 update i will make the change later but the ps2 driver in the nc10 package is a bit freaky one you can fix it... with the previous driver all you need to do is replace the backed up driver (appleps2controller.kext) in the backupkextspriorto1055 update folder in the root |

Hi Mysticus thanks for all the great work
I've followed your guide and used the installer etc, and it works great so far. One thing I've noticed on my system is that the battery icon is missing from the menu bar. If I run the mouse over the bar I get a drop down menu for the battery monitor, but no matter what I select I do not see the time remaining or the icon, any suggestions? |

Check the system preferences / enegery savings /options, there should be an option to enable the battery icon in the bar, however if the option is missing probably because a file is not working /mixing up functions... open finder. go to system/library/extensions/ and find the AppleACPIBatteryManager.kext, this driver is causing conflict... right click and move to trash, restart, and check the same menu in the system preferences /enegery saving/ options it should show the battery this time just enable it |

i suggest you to get JAS DVD + my ppf package = Samsung NC10 DVD i am getting addicted to the whole process. i can't wait to install it anytime sooner! however, i think i will still download the jas dvd and ur ppf package and build a version of samsung nc10 mac just in case. btw, u were saying that osx does not work like windows when it comes to drivers, care to explain a little bit further? okay, if i were to change my video card driver, how can i get the system to point to the correct driver? |

(/system/library/extensions/) is the place for drivers... and getting the right driver is a searching process for your system, if you have say ati 2900xt card, search for ati 2900xt card driver /mods etc... sometimes drivers dont work OTB (out of the box) for not being officialy supported! in these cases there are work arounds you need to search/find/apply carefully... if you wanna know all about these, you have to be patient and willing to search and read a lot... if you wanna learn things roughly quickly, read my other topic post #1 starting from "what is kernel" part... all the way to the end of post#1 |
