Hi,
I want my nc10 to sleep on lid closure, I have read there is an addon clamshell.kext, and a shortcut to the developer at http://www.superhai.com/darwin.html, but I can't find it on there. it has links to something called voodoopower. Is this the same? Can anyone send me a link to the kext? I also want to get hibernation working, and have downloaded deep sleep widget. Is there anyway to force the nc10 to hibernate instead of sleep. People have said in this forum theirs is working, but not said how it is working. I have the sleep image file in /private/var/vm folder, same size as my ram, but no luck.I have changed the option in the widget to deep sleep on power and battery... it doesn't work on either ( i think it wont work on power anyway reading up on it). heres my settings ctive Profiles: Battery Power -1* AC Power -1 Currently in use: sleep 10 displaysleep 2 hibernatefile /var/vm/sleepimage hibernatemode 5 halfdim 1 disksleep 10 ttyskeepawake 1 does that help anyone see whats wrong? TIA |

Hello,
Thank you for all the work you do to help poeple to get osx running on the nc10. I 've Just bought a nc10 last week and of course installed osx on it. I've done exactly has discribed in the guide except for the partition scheme, I also use the good iso. I used the final 10.5.6 Jas Mystic NC10 one. All goes very well, I am very happy. I have just a small problem, the boot screnn (apple) when I start osx is not at the good scale or is stretched. I read the full thread and saw that other poeple had the same issue. I try to modify the boot.plist file as describe in a reply in this thread but without result. I read that it could be related to a wrong video card driver but I do not remember to have change something on this. Please, has someone find a solution of this or wich file driver must I check ?? I know that it is not very important but I would like to have osx good from the boot process. Thanks for your help. |

Hi
Just registered to say thanks really. Mysticus C* - loving my nc10 even more now, thank you for your hard work and great instructions. i carefully read everything, understood the limitations, re-read the first post again and again, and was able to install and configure osx no problem (chose to use a USB DVD drive as it was handy, with the 10.5.6 iso from rapidshare downloads). Installed a BCM4311KFBG (1390) card which works great in both OSX and XP Thanks again Pete |

Dear Mysticus C*
Many thanks for your guide file. I have installed 10.5.5 since 2 months ago based on your instruction. Today I purchase Dell 1390 according to your recommendation. Meanwhile, I can access to internet via Wifi. According to Guide v2, I install "Brightness Icon pkg". However, computer could not be adjust when I press button. Would I need to update to 10.5.6 to order to enable this function ? Besides, I would like to update to 10.5.6. Would I do like this ? 1. install 10.5.6 combo update packing 2. Don't restart 3. Install NC10.5.6 install pack 4. Restart Is it correct ? any further patches should I install. Many thanks. |

UPDATE PROCESS CORRECT, however, some additional patches will be required due to further improvements and additional workarounds found... some of them are: brightess icon package, bluetooth (to enable/disable bluetooth whenever you want), trackpad (for trackpad menu enabler, not for multi-touch or scrolling, only for enabling prefpane menu), old fb if you want clone function (note that desktop extension works already, just clone has trouble with new fb) good luck... |

i used install them manually as it said no hardware found, let it extract them to c:\dell, then in device manage, go update driver and point it to the directory. All installed and informed me of wireless networks straight away this is the one i bought, not sure if it was a proper dell or not, its in now so cant see what it says on it There are links on the ebay page too to other drivers that I didn't try http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Broadcom-Wireless-Mi...alenotsupported Thanks a lot for your help! I tried them all, but none worked. The card is recognized by the system as Dell 1490, but unfortunately I still get Error 39 under XP. I have idea how to solve this. Any ideas? Cheers Marco |

Any ideas? Cheers Marco which part you dont understand that you need to install it manually! All those installers are checking Brand specific stuff to block people from installing out of Brand installations! The only way is to go through installing manually... Have you ever installed a driver manually, by going through device manager, and manual install by picking/poingthing the driver... |

Any ideas? Cheers Marco What I did Marco was run the installer, the first thing it will do is unzip the files to C:\dell\drivers... then go into Device Manager find the adapter, right click and update/install driver. In the wizard don't install automatically but choose the location for windows to find the driver, i.e C:\dell\drivers\R140747\DRIVER and continue. Installation should be fine mine worked without a restart. |

I will search a little bit for different drivers and maybe I'll get it running. Cheers Marco |

ok, don't kill me, but how do i switch between internal speakers and headphones? i've tried audiee and switching things in sys pref but the sound continues to come out of the internal speakers. thanks. i wont kill you, but will let you know that you have to read around first before you jump on asking something.... to get headphone working, 1) you need to install azaliaaudio driver which you can find all around the forum, if you just google it... (to install azaliaaudio driver: first you need to uninstall delete/or/move) AppleHDA driver!, because they are both providing same functions! so it will conflict with eachother) 2) you need to install CHUD package (if you started with nc10 10.5.6 iso, CHUD is installed already, so no need to install) 3) you need to use audiee to switch better headphone You need to read around to understand how to use terminal or other tools to install drivers, etc... I mentioned the problems/solutions in the first post, but people find it easy to just ignore reading it, ignore searching around, and jump to last page and start posting, and expect to be not scolded.... |

Mysticu you are far tooooooo kind.
Look guys apparently for those who chime in (and there is always 10-20 of you) after finding this forum and going right to the end page. Look. It starts on page 1 for a reason. Sooo apparently you all need a guide on how to be good little forum goers. It is not that we dont mind helping out with specific new problems. BUT THE WHOLE IDEA OF A FORUM WHERE INFO IS STORED is so you never have to do something twice. Let me start a troubleshooting quick guide Problem: You want to install Mac onto your NC10 Fix: Read from the page 1 of this forum. Problem: You are having trouble installing Fix: Read from the page 1 of this forum. Problem: You can't seem to get the partitions right. Fix: Read from the page 1 of this forum. Problem: Everything installed, but it keeps rebooting at Apple symbol Fix: Hey guess what Read from the page 1 of this forum. Problem: Sound doesnt come out of speakers, doesn't come out of Headphones Fix: Read from the page 1 of this forum. Problem: You want your PC to be as flawless as a normal mac Fix: Stick this computer up your anus and then Read from the page 1 of this forum. EVERYTHING HAS BEEN ANSWERED ALREADY. ITS IN HERE< TRUST ME YOU ARE NOT SPECIAL, contrary to what your parents told you. SO i hope that clears things UP. I will of course have to post this on the next page, for the next group of idiots. And yes if you feel like you asked a simple question, And that you are just looking for a little info. YOu are getting yelled at cause you refuse to do your homework. |
