Thanks for the Audieee tip. Works great for me. Wifi still fails to remember and reconnect to my home wpa personal tkip network but typically turning off airport and back on solves it. Now the mic and lan are the only issues. Thanks everyone for the help.

Did you get the iso from alt.binaries.mac? just want to make sure it works ok!
I've installed everything according to install guide and it all seems to be working apart from one thing. I can't seem to get any sound (from internal speaker or headphone). Any ideas how I can fix this? Have you gone to system preferences and selected the audio output? |

Mysticus, you dont just rock - you roll too. Very cool stuff.
Same goes to all other contributors, but Mysticus gets the big thanks. So, I've got my JaS 10.5.6 install up and running. No wifi, but have just ordered a new 1490 card. I've got a couple of newbie questions... 1) I've read that you typically recommend a main partition, a data partition and a third partition for trying out new versions and patches of osx. I've currently installed onto a 16Gb USB card. So now I should clone this onto my hard disk. Will the clone process zap anything that's on the partition? So I definitely cant store data on the partition that I'm cloning to right? If that's the case, I'll do some repartitioning - not a problem. However how do I get my data partition mounted so that all user files are stored on there? I've got some rusty unix/linux experience but osx is new to me. If I install apps, will they go on the data partition by default too? 2) Once I've got my 16Gb "system" partition, where's the clone tool? Sorry, it's bound to be hidden somewhere in this massive thread, but would take me ages to find it. Many thanks, Imo. |

I've read numerous recommendations about how to backup my entire drive now that I have my hackintosh all set up. What do you guys use? Rather than piecemeal backing up each partition and having to rebuild everything if I upgrade my hard drive or have a failure, I would like to have a drive image that would be easy to restore in total if ever needed. Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. I use Superduper (http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html) to clone my OSX partition to a USB hard drive. The nice thing about it is that you can boot on it if need be. It is also very easy to transfer back to the internal hard drive in case of crash. It is free for the basic backup feature. I also know of Carbon Copy Cloner that basically does the same thing than the free version of Superduper (I got Superduper pay version because I like the smart update feature). |

I have super duper and I like it but it won't image the entire drive for a disaster recovery type situation. I would still have to repartition etc.

Am I doing something wrong then?? , cos I can't get Audiee to work in any meaningful way. It installs, I select headphones from the top menu, and then nothing....Sound still comes from the speakers. If the "About" dialog doesn't say "Samsung NC10" then you're using the wrong version Download the version from my site, linked to above, and that should work for you... if not, please let me know. |

Hi,
I tried various driver-packs and install methods. Currently I am using the NC10_JaS_10.5.6 DVD I installed from that DVD without additional modifications. But one problem persists: Sleep only works for the first time. If I wake up from sleep and put the system to sleep again, only the display goes off but harddrive keeps running. And there is no way to get the display on again. After a reset, the first sleep I do works perfectly again. My only solution to this is to use hibernate-only (via smart-sleep) Thanks for you help. I had to install http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=25638 (AzaliaAudio.pkg.zip) as well to get it to work. |

I've replaced WiFi card in my Samsung NC10 with Broadcom 4311 card. It works fine with 10.5.6, but I've noticed that it is much less sensitive than the original card. Anybody has similar experience? Thanks.

no prob MC,
Just wanted to direct your attention to another forum I started on games that will work on our netbook. Biggest problem i have is screen rez and the game sizing to fit right. There is a PC forum, but the solutions and suggestions they have made don't really work on the mac side. here is the link |

Just a little word to say I just finished to install OSX on my NC10, and that rocks!!!
I replaced the Wifi card by a Dell 1390, and that's fine. Concerning brightness control, maybe someone already mentioned that, but I prefer a freeware called Shades, and I control brightness with Ctrl+up or down. easier than the Quicksilver method, but you don't have progress bar. Brightness in OSX seems to be much lower by default than in XP... As I'm french, keyboard layout wasn't good, I just had to install the layout made for the MSI Wind, and that's just fine. Now, I just hope for the internal Mic to work as soon as possible, then I will be able to get rid of XP on that Netbook... Thanks again Mysticus C* for that work. |

Beware with 'shades'... it isn't actually altering the value of the backlight, it's just changing the colour palette of the display I believe, so by lowering the brightness you won't actually prolong the battery life. The backlight is a big factor in how quickly your battery runs down - Backlight on full can easily knock a couple of hours off the battery life i think. |

You are probably right, but for the time being, I don't really need 7 hours battery lasting... I will have to try via quicksilver... How come we are able to map sound keys and not brightness?? |
