I'd go for a client only install.. but maybe others would like to see a server install as well.. I would suggest a client only install also. Leopard server includes a number of processes and packages which would never see use on a day to day basis but would use up disk space and processor cycles regardless. |

yoursxs: you did 3 stages right? first run nc10 once with only stage 1 option, when finished, just closed the window? official update, not restarted, just minimized? run the nc10 again, with the shown options in the guide? and finally restarted? correct? (also bios settings correct?) if everything done correct it should have worked, i doubt that the bios revision will have any effect at the moment, since you are able to install it and boot to desktop, showing no problem... i m just saying, that you may have missed something earlier, in blink of an eye? would u mind reinstalling? jap 100%. i just added a reboot on my 2nd try after nc10 installer stage1 (booted up fine) bios settings are the same as well. i resized my C partition (already a couple of days ago) to have more space for os x, so the last hfs (non 20gb) partition that i created is much bigger than in your guide, but i guess thats no problem. i'll reinstall tomorrow |

i m not sure anyone tried multi-touch capability with the netbooks yet (you can do it in xp though) one reason not to use it is touchpad is way too small to accommodate multi-touch gestures! even if you fit your fingers, it will not be very comfortable moving around in the tiniest space possible... i m not saying you should not try to or it will not work... it just wont be comfortable to use... It was actually working on my nc10 when it came to zooming in and out. I also installed a program that would let me two finger scroll. Friend of mine has the eeePc 1000H and has all kinds of crazy multitouch - 2 finger, 3 finger, etc. While it is small, it'd be something I'd like to mess with, especially for 2 finger scrolling on webpages and such. I figure, since this is a synaptic pad, it should work (thought I just don't know how for sure in os x lol). |

wow I don't check the board for a few hours and a fair amount of progress has been made, can't wait to see the NC10 package dvd, hopefully that'll stop most people complaining about things not working etc and save you some time answering questions.
if you need some one to test it out let us know and i don't mind giving it a spin. |

I'm really only interested in trying to get the 2 finger gestures honestly. You do what you need to do man. I'm not asking you to look into it, I was just asking if it was possible. I can try and figure it out on my own and let you continue doing the awesome job you're already doing. |

I am actually going to buy an NC10 because of your outstanding work. Well done my friend, well done! I've already got an NC10 and after seeing what can be done with it by Mysticus C* I know of atleast another 4 people getting one and wanting me to install osx86! these machines really are one of the best ones to use for osx86 all you need is another wifi card which is cheap (around £15 or so) which works straight out the box, installed mine this morning only takes 5mins and done. quick question mate, with the custom install that your making, we're still gonna need to run the update to get to 10.5.5 so would we use the original update method that you created before the nc10 or the one thats part of the nc10 install package. |

Sounds outstanding.....Well done mate , sounds like the distro for me.
Will it be a full distro or just a ppf to a JaS dvd? I hope to get a 500gb hdd and a dell 1490 and partition it as a 100gb mac drive , 100gb windows drive and the rest as a big fat32 disc for all my media, because with this type of battery performance I am definatley not going to need my divx portable dvd player anymore. This sounds like the very package all us nc10 owners are waiting for. Does anyone have a link to replacing the wfi and hdd with photos?? Many thanks Niteman1969 |

Many thanks Niteman1969 i posted it earlier in the thread if you missed it but here it is again http://www.laptopmag.com/advice/how-to/nc10-hard-drive.aspx you can access the wifi card at the same time, all in all just for the wifi it took me 5mins so not so hard to do. hmm good question... i didnt think about it really... i think it could be done but i will not do it right now... first i will need to integrate 10.5.5 update, second: it will be huge PPF, will take too much time to upload... good news is i will do it as well, and maybe release it someone whoever wanna seed it? You've done more than enough mate, I understand the file will be way to large, which would require way to much bandwidth, things are perfectly fine the way they are, was just curious as to the possibilities, the guide that you've made is 99.99% n00b proof, I say 99.99% purely because some people will not heed warnings and use other distros instead of the one recommended by you. |

Isn't better to use the boot-132 method and then apply the uppdate pack, since it will be uppdate proof.
(I understood that you would have to do the combo update on JaS release, but not with boot-132?) |

(I understood that you would have to do the combo update on JaS release, but not with boot-132?) that puts extra weight on my shoulders... and you need to customize the initrd img for the 132 and the settings so that it will be update proof, but due the nature of the partition amounts in the system, it will create another mess for me... to make an mkext and need to update it as well later when the system updated... so many things will follow so, i dont wanna go into 132 world and redo everything... things are fine at the moment... also there is no such thing as update proof... people have very good talents to destroy thing, which will cause flury of debug messages for me to handle... this is right now more than enough.... if you want custom bootloader, u r free to do so... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PPF done.... going to apply it to jas iso and test it after that... PPF Size: 2mb PPF applied (1sec) PPF applied image is being burned now... (fingers crossed and hope that nothing made wrong) ==================================================================== |
