Sleep Mode

I have an Asus P5L VM-1394, and I can't get sleep to work. It will go to sleep, and it sounds like the HDD goes down too, but it won't wake up (screen stays black)

 

I have an EVGA 7300GT using NVInject (QE/CI working), a Samsung Spinpoint Sata HD, a maxtor IDE HD, and a wireless Microsoft Laser 6000 mouse/keyb combo.

 

How can I get sleep to work? The board has an intel chipset (as far as I can tell). Could it be that USB is not engaging after the reboot? or that a different video driver (Titan or Natit) would solve the problem? Could it be a bios setting?

My PC has the same issue, as does my laptop. I've found that on my laptop the problem was that the sleep mode was set incorrectly (some kind of mode that wrote data to the HDD in case of power loss) turning it back to mode "0" (just sleep) made it work perfectly, although it eventually changes the mode back again. I'd quote the terminal syntax if I could remember it, haha.

Can someone help me make sense of this log? Here's what I get:

I've narrowed it down to 2 key settings in bios.

 

1. I had to force it to use S3 sleep. S1 doesn't work. Dunno the difference...?

 

2. When I put it to sleep, it won't wake up unless I disable Legacy USB in the bios. BUT...

 

Currently, the problem is that I can put it to sleep, but:

 

a) it will immediately wake itself up

B) the screen resolution is blurry, and I have to reboot to fix it -- which makes sleep useless.

 

Any help greatly appreciated.

Problem solved... sort of.

 

My wireless laser 6000 desktop is keeping the thing from sleeping. If I unplug it from the computer and use the power button to sleep, it sleeps beautifully.

 

How can I get it to sleep with the keyboard plugged in?

SOLVED!

Sleep works perfectly. In the end, it was a jumper on my motherboard. Once I set it to enable wakeup from s3 sleep, no more premature wakeups.

 

So in order, the steps seem to be:

 

1. Use Natit

2. Disable Legacy USB in Bios

3. Set sleep to S3 in bios

4. Set jumper to wake from S3 sleep (listed in P5LVM1394 manual)

 

Sleep is working in osx 10.5.4 Vanilla kernel 9.4.0.
