Greetings. I have installed OSX 10.4.4 then upgraded with 10.4.5 in native mode, but my USB Bluetooth adapter didn't work (in 10.4.3 worked).
I tried to replace the IOUSBFamily.kext with the 10.4.3 version, but when I rebooted I had this message: Waiting for remote debugger connection. kdp_poll: no debugger device If I boot in safe mode it works, but with no sound. Here what I did: 1) Replaced IOUSBFamily.kext 2) chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext 3) chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext 4) Rebooted Did I do something wrong? P.S.: I have an Athlon 64 3200+ 939 (SSE3) on an ASUS A8V Deluxe |

Update: I replaced also IOATAFamily, AppleAC97Audio and IONetworkingFamily (if it is the correct name, I don't remember) and repaired the permissions. Now it loads all the extensions but i get a "Still waiting for root devices message".
Help, please! |

I did it, but my USB Bluetooth pen doesn't work either.
I tried to enable Legacy again, but nothing changed. I saw an error while loading a subkext of IOUSBFamily but i've not been able to read it because it's too fast. Maybe there are problems with permissions? |

i'm not sure. go into System Profiler/Logs/System.log, and see if you can find the error there. what does it say?

Ah, yes, here it is
CODE AppleUSBEHCI[0x2956000]::UIMInitialize - could not get chip to halt within 100 ms Mar 11 14:15:52 localhost kernel[0]: USBF: 21.343 AppleUSBEHCI[0x2956000]::UIMInitialize - Error occurred (0xe00002c9) Mar 11 14:15:52 localhost kernel[0]: USBF: 21.449 AppleUSBEHCI[0x2956000]::UIMFinalize - could not get chip to halt within 100 ms Mar 11 14:15:52 localhost kernel[0]: USBF: 21.452 AppleUSBEHCI: unable to initialize UIM It's not a permissions problem, I tried to repair them but with no results. |

I disabled Legacy again and i don't get this error now, but I still have the problem. Now i get this:
CODE AppleUSBUHCI[0x2b7d000]::Found a transaction which hasn't moved in 5 seconds on bus 48, timing out!
... [0x2d19800] The IOUSBFamily is having trouble enumerating a USB device that has been plugged in. It will keep retrying. (Port 2 of hub @ location: 0x30000000) |

I found the 10.4.3 extesnions online, and used the IOUSB from that. And now my USB works fine.
I guiess the one on the patched DVD of 10.4.3 that i had is different than the original 10.4.3. |

I resolved the problem, but I don't know how exactly. Here what I did:
1) Replaced the kext with a 10.4.3 kext 2) Changed owner and permissions (chown and chmod) 3) Rebooted At this point I had the same problem I had before CODE Waiting for remote debugger connection. kdp_poll: no debugger device so I: 4) Rebooted in safe mode and OSX repaired automatically mi HD header 5) Rebooted again in normal mode, same problem 6) Rebooted again in safe mode 7) Replaced again the kext with the original one (10.4.5) 8) Changed owner and permissions 9) Repaired permissions with Disk Utilities 10) Rebooted in normal mode and now my USB Bluetooth pen works. It's quite odd, but I'm happy |
