Any big FL Studio fans in here? I got the FL Studio 8 Demo, and hope I can save money to buy it (the download version, its cheaper wink.gif ). I decided to quit the whole warez/piracy/program crack, keygens thing. angel.png

Well, there is VMware Fusion, then put it into "unity" mode and it will get rid of your Windows desktop and intergrate your windows apps into your mac desktop. I tried it, but it LAGS, a lot. Just not worth it.

I'm a fan of FL! I used 6 and 7 a lot when first getting into synthesizers! It's really incredible for a Windows app! Best one I've seen with so much expandibility!

I know what you mean mate, from the 3xOsc, to the DNC_Kicks, I love FL Studio. And when I get tired of FL Studio, I'll play Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour. smile.gif

I've got a quick question. I'm debating (AGAIN) between...

1. Selling my MacBook Pro and buying a Mac Pro. Then perhaps buying a Powerbook G4 for portability needs in the near future. With this I could run Windows under Boot Camp on the Mac Pro.

2. Keep my MacBook Pro and build a PC that I could use a lot for gaming as well as FL Studio.

I do need quite a bit of power and I do want to get back into PC gaming! But I also hear the Mac Pro is good for gaming... But I want to know if FL Studio will run well on a Mac Pro under a Boot Camp partition? Will I face more hardware compatibility issues or will it just the same, if not better, than working on a Custom Built PC?

Thanks for your help!

FYI, You CAN use fruity under OSX

Use darwine from www.thisismyinter.net

and install it smile.gif along with fruity......

Fruity 7 works if you roll back the clock i think. Ignore install errors.

If anyone can get their fruity 8 working perfect please let me know.

You can also use jackwasio + jackosx for asio only apps like Native Instruments or whatever.

Only porblem is that the graphics are laggy. Laterncy is basically the same as PC.

From my experience, wine (what darwine is made of) works best under debian 4 (64studio 2.1 32bit) and fruity works almost identical to windows.

Good Luck!! dance_24.gif

Also, you can link your PC partition folders like Program Files in /home/<username>/.wine/drive_c/....... using aliases

I recommend either Paragon NTFS or Fuse/NTFS-3G to mount your NTFS drives in /Volumes

Also in winecfg you can link all you folders you use to drive letters along with MyDocs and Desktop. Use either your windows folders or mac or in combination.

You need to install tweaktool to see your hidden folders, like the one above.

90% of PC VST's work as well along with direct x plugins (anything that doesn;t require a dongle basically) thumbsup_anim.gif

Good Luck

sorry its called tinkertool, not tweaktool. DOH!! cool.gif

I wouldn't really want to run it under that sort of software. I'd want it to be completely native so anyone who can help sway my two decisions above to one or the other please give me some input! Thanks!

Well if you really want to save money then go for the custom build, that way you can customise it to run on fruity's specs and you still have a genuinly powerful mac to use as well smile.gif

Running Darwine or wine is like running a native app.

Why dont you try it before completely disregarding it?

There is a slight problem with Direct-x graphics under darwine but i'm confident this will be fixed in updates to darwine and xquartz.

You WILL find its alot better than any VM solution.

Only other thing you need to remebber after installing fruity or linking to a previous install is to add a line into the win.ini file in the .wine foler (see notes above)

nMSACM.vorbis=vorbis.acm

and add a native windows dll, mfc42.dll

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?...on&iId=7036

I suggest that everyone tries this out as it seems to work perfectly.

In fact, if you are running a legit Fruity 7 then it works perfectly with the correct time (ie not set back 3 years etc)

Good luck!!
