Did someone already succeedded in installing Leopard 10.5.2 on a dell studio 15 (the last laptop dell brought out).

This laptop is not listed in the HCL, but perhaps someone already succeeded (as both Inspiron and XPS are already in the list).

If yes, through which way (iATkos, Kalyway,Leo4all)?

Thx.

I have a similar Dell Studio 1735 Setup with 10.5.4. I used cpus=1 and leo4allv3 with Intel ICHx Chipset patch. Works really well. I just need to find a way to get audio working. It is an IDT 92HD73C1 and I have been unsuccessful getting the sound to work.

try HDA patch,...

http://www.insanelymac.com/lofiversion/index.php/t93356.html

temporary fix, get an USB sound

does your 1735, dell studio 17, have the fan running all the time ?

what's your battery time,... battery meter ?

think in vista it could show you the power consumption in watt ?

can you run booth cores cpus=2 ?

what wifi card you using ?

webcam > ichat ?

sleep / wake working ?

how do you like it so far ?

Thanks for the reply. I have tried HDAPatcher. Every similar dump i could find. Dumped mine with Knoppix latest live CD and CentOS 5.2 no go. Wish it would work. I

The install is all vanilla Leo4allv3 updated to 10.5.4 with AppleAPCIPS2hub.kext, AppleSMBIOSEFI.kext, and generated a gfx string for x3100 video. I have to sleep the display and wake it at boot up but an applescript does this easily.

Fans seem fine. It did get hot on a 105 degree day but not bad

I use an Airport Extreme from an iMac but had a Dell 1390 in it and it worked well.

Webcam works no drivers.

Its a nice laptop. I have a Vostro 1700 w/nvidia 8600 also. The sound works on the Vostro. If the sound worked, I would like the Studio 1735 better.

The sound driver that is installed in Vista 64 calls itself "IDT 92HD73C1". Ven 111D, Dev 7675, SubSys 10280256

I attached the two codecs in /proc/asound/card0.

I may be overlooking something glaringly obvious, but here is my situation...

I have the Studio 15 and Leo4allv3 burned to dvd, but for whatever reason, I can't get it to boot from the disc to install. Just hangs with the blinking cursor. I have also tried with the latest Kalaway image.

What could I be doing wrong? Am I missing a step?

Thanks in advance.

Got OS X running on my dell studio 1535. But only the webcam is working, the other devices aren't recognized. Did you get ethernet running or bluetooth? Also didn't find any drivers for the Ati Radion HD 3450 video card.

I used leo4allv3 for setup and didn't have to specify the use of 1 cpu. The first time the DVD boots it crashes, but the second time, after reset (5 seconds power button), it just boots with 2 cpu's recognized.

  • 4 weeks later...

Did anyone get the sound and the Ati Radion HD 3450 video card Working ...

I am fixing to get a new machine in the next week or 2 and I was really leaning toward this unit because of the backlit KB option

(I know it is stupid but I really like it)

I picked up a Dell Studio 1535 and finally got quite a bit working.

I installed with 10.5.2 iAtkos 2.0i

I havent' figured out the audio yet (i'm still rusty with the mac tweaking as I got bored after I figured out 10.4.8 on my DS3 mobo).

Wireless is a Dell 1397/Broadcom BCM4310. Using bcm43xx_enabler 0.5.1pre. Give it a reboot and it works great.

Video: x3100. Install the x3100 driver, but before the installer can reboot I go into terminal and move the drivers out to another folder. This allows me to set up the desktop and turn on "sleep display" in hot corners. Put the drivers back in, reboot and sleep the screen on startup, move mouse and it works great.

ethernet/gigabit networking: still working that out.

The options I've used so far on my various installs that have worked is leaving the 2 default options checked at the top, x3100 driver, kernel 9.2.2, SMBios by netkas, intelsata, and intel speedstep patch. I haven't researched enough lately to see if I even need any of that stuff really.

Oh and I also have only been installing on a USB drive.

great, you've got the x3100 and wireless working! its just too bad that i made the mistake of buying the studio with the ati 3400 option...i haven't tried anything on it yet, just reading this thread now and then. does anyone know if any solution for ati mobility 3400 works on any laptop in general?

I got a Studio 1535, it works great with Os X (10.5.4), I'm also looking for a Sound driver ( IDT 92HD73C1 ), It's all I need to make it perfect!

Who can we get help from?

Anyone with knowledge in compilation, that could help us?

This would make the Studio Series the perfect Hackbook with style...

The screen was all black and white and the text and graphics were hardly viewable. Let me know if it is the problem with my graphics card.

Has anybody gotten any updated drivers for the Studio laptops?

I have a Studio 17 that I installed Kalyway 10.5.2 on, however I can't get the wireless the work, ethernet, or anything else.

I was hoping I would be able to compile enough information to start an official thread like the M1530 one.

I tried the link to the driver for the wireless (Yes I have the Dell 1397 Card), but I'm not sure where to go from there as it didn't seem to work. I installed it using the sudo commands.

Edit: Didn't realize this was my first post on here. Guess I've been lurking for over a year. Look at my mem #!!

All - getting my refurb Studio 15 sometime this week with ATI 3450. I'd like to start a guide as I think alot of people are picking these up.

I got pretty far with my last setup (tripleboot Asus P5K w/ 8600GT), but I wasn't able to ever get the graphics with QE which was a deal-breaker for me.

Anyway - looking forward to getting this started. Will be back in a week!

I'm looking forward to that guide: I've gotten everything running except sound and ethernet. Maybe you can shed some light on how to get those things working? And while you're at it, I'm wondering what happens when you upgrade to 10.5.5. Maybe you can see if anything breaks when you try to get that working?

Thanks!

tmaxxtim: Try reinstalling Kalyway and immediately downloading and using the script. I messed around with IONetworkingFamily.kext and the wireless wouldn't work, but after I did a clean install and ran the script (0.5.1pre I believe NOT the one that came with Kalyway) everything worked fine.
