Roll Back to geimans 4.0 BIOS doesn't help with fans in 10.5.7

I wish I could help you with your fans problem, but I don't know of anything off the top of my head to help you.. I'll look around a bit. My fans work ok, but I have to use Voodoo power kext in order to get speed stepping working correctly. It also detects my cpus minimum frequency to be about 1003 MHz; I used to be able to get it to recognize a minimum value in the 900's or 800's, maybe lower. its been so long that I can't remember; anyways, I have never been able to get it back that low, but even with the 1003 MHz speed it hangs around ~46 C.
I know that the SMBIOS especially has a great influence on all of this, at least for me; might want to fool with different variations or even try and edit one for yourself. As for the Snow Leopard tutorial, you can follow this one: http://www.infinitemac.com/f57/how-to-inst...-on-a-pc-t3137/ I followed this one, so I figured it better for you to get the information first hand rather than through me. I did the tutorial exactly, and just moved whatever kexts I used in Leopard over to my Snow Leopard partition and they worked! (And of course your patched DSDT, unless you directly patched your bios) Let me know how you make out, meanwhile I'll try and see if I can find anything else to help you. |

Hi, friends. I solved the fan problem radically... Now I have manually adjustable fan. I've opened laptop and connected the fan to one of the USB ports... The speed is adjusted with a little regulator. Now is the time to think about other things

Slightly OT:
Does anyone of you guys is still using Disabler.kext? I've started cleaning my Extensions folder and had successfully removed couple of Extensions I do not need. I've read that Disabler.kext might have an influence on FireWire behavior (read: bandwith and cpu usage) and would like to fix it. I've tried to remove it (Disabler.kext) but then I get KP mentioning AppleEFINVRAM.kext and AppleEFIRuntime.kext So, my question is: is it possible for me (us?) to stop using this kext? or not? Thanks in advance for your responses, mentorek EDIT: These are the kexts that are being used by my installation. Shall I remove anything else that is not needed anymore? I don't use Disabler.kext... It seems that it is not necessary with DSDT.aml. I have loaded even AppleCPUPowerManagement. You need to delete Don'tStealMacOSX.kext. I've noticed that there are different versions of Disabler.kext. They are discribed on XxX v2. Do You have any news on sound problem?
With great respect, jazzminos. |

Which distribution (Kalyway/iPC/...?)? My installation is quite old and seems to have some leftovers from the base (10.5.1/10.5.2 Kalyway) which might have an impact. Could you provide me with your extensions folder? As for audio part - I haven't time to experiment much further. I've found one guy with a AppleHDA kext on some Russian forum but I couldn't neither download it (have to register) nor access it recently. cheers, mentorek |

I use iAtkos 5i practically stock installation + Chameleon 2 (with GMA950b (Natit) driver from iAtkos) + Your DSDT.aml + AppleDecrypt + some files in Extra + latest PCI drivers by Chun Nan + VoodooPS2 + VoodooPower. Kernel & ACPI are fully stock... My sleep works.
I can't solve problem with SMBIOS... I don't know what to use... SMBIOSResolver worked in 10.5.6, but it doesn't work in 10.5.7. I always get a error with Computer Model in System Profiler. Can You give me the link from Russian forum? I'm from Russia and I'll try to contact this guy. Here's the link to my Extensions+Extra folders archive http://rapidshare.com/files/251441497/Ext_Extra.zip.001.html With great respect, jazzminos. |

Try using smbios.plist in /Extra folder to solve (fill in) infos in System Profiler. The link: http://www.applelife.ru/kak_sdelat_hda_zvuk/12860/850.html I didn't figure out how to use those kexts he provided. Thanks for the your extensions - I will get back to you with the outcome. cheers, mentorek |

I will try to reinstall it using iPC 10.5.6 and see if that would change anything. Any news on Legacy* kexts from Clubber77? |

New version AppleHDA.kext (from 10.5.7) for Conexant Cx20551 is ready. Post #1609 (to look in a topic) Speakers-work Нeadphones-work internal Microphone - work external Microphone - work Thanks for an update. Just to be sure... I should only copy this file over to my Extensions folder and that's it? EDIT: Shall I change any nodes anywhere? Could you upload this kext on mediafire or rapidshare? |

Click Here The sound is started with VoodooHDA? upload your linux dump and VoodooHDA dump somewhere... Hi guys, Partial success! At the moment my Headphone jack IS working (it's marked as Internal Speakers though), in Audio Midi Setup I have only Built-in Microphone options available and no controls for output. Probably I would need some tweaks in plist files to make the rest (Internal Speakers, Line In and Mic) working. Clubber_77 - I've attached my linux dump as VoodooHDA is not working for me (Kernel Panic). Could you please help me with updating correct Info.plist? cheers, mentorek

I will try to help something... CODE cut It really yours dump??? Please make dump in Linux Mandriva PowerPack 2009 IIRC it has been made using Mandriva 2009 but not PowerPack... I can try to download it and create a dump once again if needed. Is VoodooHDA creating more detailed dump? BTW. I can provide you with Vista verbs (and also my slightly modified version to reflect OSX reqs) if that would help at all. Thanks for your help! mentorek |

IIRC it has been made using Mandriva 2009 but not PowerPack... I can try to download it and create a dump once again if needed. download this or this dump should differ from yours,- it can explain (clear) something Is VoodooHDA creating more detailed dump? VoodooHDA supplements the data received from Linux dump. Helps to build sequence nodes. I can provide you with Vista verbs (and also my slightly modified version to reflect OSX reqs) if that would help at all. It can help. |
