So where are the DRIVERS???? What's his NAME???? Don't you dare post a comment without reading rest of this first post! kX will not support X-Fi series click here and discuss about X-Fi here QUOTE Hello Would you like to try new OS X driver build for Snow Leopard? (update: 12. aug 2008 *NOW* there is something to get excited about
------------------ Out of date Information ------------------------------------ I managed to download these beta drivers, but as expected, they are ppc, to the extent that they still include "jaguar" in the filename. There was once an attempt at writing emu10k drivers for os x/intel, but I don't think it got off the ground. so as before, there are no drivers for pci soundblaster live/audigy. Just so that people don't get the wrong idea from the title of this topic: there *never were* any intel drivers, and until someone decides to write some, that is how it remains. [edit] nevermind your next post reveals that you haven't read what I posted. figure it out for yourself. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reason for edit: what was once a dream is now code

Oh Cool
Not ricoh again! :\ everything made by Ricoh is such a pain, Ricoh web cam, Ricoh Flash card reader etc etc. I blame HP for this! But on the desktop side, I don't see Ricoh in my system (anywhere)... If there is any driver you want me to test on desktop of mine, (with Dell Audigy2 ZS and Live! Platinum), "I can be that nice person" |

I will announce beta version of the Mac driver here as soon as it is ready, but will probably keep using driverheaven forum for updates, release notes etc...But this problem with PCMCIA adapter has definitely delayed my work on this driver...
I currently have a desktop PC running WinXP/Vista + E-mu card [not Creative, not yet supported even by kX drivers], and I cannot install OSX on this desktop, since this is my PC development machine, I have a MacBook, but cannot connect any of the Creative/E-mu devices to it [it has ExpressCard slot, but no PCMCIA], and another laptop - ASUS W3V - with Audigy2 ZS Notebook cardbus and OSX 10.4.10 installed and used for my Mac-related development (USB, firewire audio devices)... If I could ever make this laptop recognize my audio card, I would release a beta version of the driver within 2-3 weeks... --- By the way, if you have enough free time : ), could you please search the web for =linux= guys trying to make this combo work? [Ricoh + Audigy2 ZS Notebook]? If I'm not mistaken, Tiger/Leopard cardbus driver is based on Linux driver, and if this configuration works in Linux, it should work in MacOS X if OSX cardbus driver is updated accordingly... --- Ricoh R/RL/5C476(II): PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0476&SUBSYS_19671043&REV_B3 Ricoh RL5C476 CardBus Controller Windows assigns the following ports by default: FD00-FDFF FE00-FEFF Memory: 000DF000-000DFFFF CC000000-CFFFFFFF FFB7E000-FFB7EFFF FFB7F000-FFB7FFFF IRQ: 17 |

The really small community are those who have Audigys on Mac OS X86.
Since I use Mac OS on my Desktop PC I switch the Speakers to the onboard sound chip, and even on Windows I use their analog and digital outputs, I didn't miss the Audigy at all. |

This would be so HUGE for the entire Mac community. Mac Pro (real not hack) users could buy PCI soundblaster cards and use them if they chose over USB ones...
For OSx86 it would be just AMAZING!! My Soundblaster Audigy 2 zx has much better sound than my (nonfunctional in osx86) AD1981 on board sound. |

My last actual communication with E was when he was on vacation however he has returned few days ago and immediately released an update on XP drivers (24/48 is now supported, so even I've updated the first page accordingly). If we look at these words (above), he was suppose to release drivers 2/3 weeks right after he fixed that problem he mentioned about BUT, it may have been delayed due to his vacation or personal life issues, or preparation of "Quality" drivers

status update:
I fixed the issue with my PCMCIA controller and can proceed with my work however, since I currently have E-mu E-DSP device (1212m), I would like to finish true 24-bit support first (for Windows) after it is ready, I will port the driver to OS X right with 24-bit support for all 10k2 users (audigy, audigy2) I hope an initial 'alpha' version is released before 15'August, because after that I'll be off for another vacation and will proceed with my work on September. Here comes another quote
QUOTE (Eugene Gavrilov) but don't expect too much initial version will come without kX DSP, so, no custom effects, no soundfonts, no routing, just multichannel playback and, probably, recording 24/48 for 10k2, 16/48 for 10k1 E. 10k1 is mentioned which means Live! series will have some sound |

I hope eventually there will be an x-fi driver, the audio on my board is garbage with OSX. I only get bad sounding 2.1 with generic drivers with no line-in or anything else, if I use taruga drivers then I get line-in but absolutely no bass at all for output. |

I'm sure they'll come out. If anyone can get Creative drivers working in OS X it's these guys. They know the hardware inside-out. The only real obstacle would be CoreAudio.
Right now I have a fully-working Leopard install minus sound because I can't be bothered to enable the onboard chip (and switch the speaker cable between XP and Leo sessions) . I'll just sit in silence until these come along |

get it from here (don't forget to review 'known issues' and 'unimplemented' stuff): http://www.driverheaven.net/mac-os-x-driver/ post your comments and bug reports to driverheaven forum please, since I cannot read both forums regularly -- Lama, please update your topic: * official site is www.kxproject.com * E-DSP will only work if you boot OS X after Windows (with kX for Windows installed) - because E-DSP FPGA microcode needs to be loaded, and no such option exists for OS X at the moment * DELL OEM card will never be supported E. |

Question, what is E-DSP? Do I need this just for sound in OS X? |

eugene, I would just want to say, Thank You. You did this with your spare time, and delivered. Donations maybe? haha
I'll be sure to post bugs AFTER you had your vacation lol. Enjoy it, I don't have osx86 installed, due to the lack of sound. But will give these a go. I hope you enjoy your vacation. Thanks again P.S To Eugene, or those who will try out the drivers, before I get home and re-install leopard. Is core audio functional? |

Holy sh*t I have sound from my Audigy 2 ZS under Leopard.
All sound comes from the rear speakers as you said in your note. Also I don't see an Audio & Midi panel to configure. In the Sounds I see just a single slider for left and right balance. I don't see how to enable more than 2 channels? |

OS X driver released - version 1.0b2 get it from here (don't forget to review 'known issues' and 'unimplemented' stuff): http://www.driverheaven.net/mac-os-x-driver/ post your comments and bug reports to driverheaven forum please, since I cannot read both forums regularly -- Lama, please update your topic: * official site is www.kxproject.com * E-DSP will only work if you boot OS X after Windows (with kX for Windows installed) - because E-DSP FPGA microcode needs to be loaded, and no such option exists for OS X at the moment * DELL OEM card will never be supported E. Lama,
It was suggested in another thread that you please re-do the first post and make it more towards testing now? Suggested : 1) Erase the first post completely and just have the download details and official bug reporting URL. 2) List the cards and OS versions that are and are not working according to reports here. Such as a simple table like Type OS X Version Speakers Supported Mic Other Audigy 2 ZS (official Soundblaster card) 10.5.3 5.1, 2.1 etc Not working Sound out rear speakers Thanks |

OK, OSX versions added and icons removed. About table, I can only provide information about my hardware and those who give feedback here... As mentioned, its an "Afla" release and should not be compared with Win version immediately... Of course but pooling it in the first thread will be a great way to stop the repeated questions Here is mine Card: Audigy 2 ZS (official Soundblaster card) OS: 10.5.3 Kalyway Speakers: 5.1 Sound routing: Rear speakers Issues: Not yet |

But is it enough to justify from using azalia based soundcard quality?? (Onboard Sound). Of course I shouldnt expect something huge, the fact there is support for audigy cards is appreciated, I just wanted to get more details on the sound itself rather than whats not working (which is expected). I'm sure theres bugs, thats okay though. Alpha is alpha P.S thanks lama for the updates and everything, very helpful , but not so patient according to driverheaven |

OK so as a proof of concept this is fantastic, however I am sad to report that after 10 minutes of sound playback the sound distorts and goes garbled. I know this is only at alpha stage, but having sound *at all* is brilliant progress. I'll stay tuned for updates. Good luck to all the others trying it out as we speak!

Think of it, lots of systems work very well and it is normally the sound that's the deal breaker. Now, one can get a cheap Audigy card and not only get sound, but get 5.1 sound! that's better than a real mac LAMA, You might also want to specifiy in the first post that these work with INTEL OS X. Hagar's second post in the thread is out of date and says they are PPC, which is NOT the case anymore |

Mine is same, now when you click on Configure Speakers, Select 5.1 and (from behind of audio card) swap the wires from Left and Right TO Rear Left and REAR right... and see if works or not The thing is, this isn't a 5.1 card. I only have a stereo jack for output. No front/rear etc. It's just a basic SB Live Value. It's great these drivers came out so quick. I hope I don't sound impatient or anything. It's just that I'm also juggling ethernet and speedstep issues at the same time |

Just selected stereo in speaker setup and set left speaker to channel 3 and right to 4 (in all my frantic clicking I didn't read that you can click on the speaker icon to hear a test sound. duh...). Yup, I've mentioned it at DH's bug report page Works great for me. I actually had to restart to get it all to work. For Stereo speaker settings I also switched the channels there so now the sound comes from my front speakers WITHOUT having to change my cabling. I also fixed it for MultiChannel 5.1 so it plays the correct channels from each 5.1 speaker. Front Left 5 Front Right 6 Listening to itunes from my front speakers now, not from back which I assume is correct as this is stereo music and not surround songs. Thanks. But on further testing it starts degrading after exactly 1 minute, so for now it really can't be used. Well I don't have your sound card. What I had to do: First adjust in Audio Midi Setup the settings for the speaker channels. Then restart and at restart I did a -f -v System sound for Adium came from 5.1 and listening to itunes perfectly right now from 2.1 |

Ok, just CONFIRMED. I restarted and OS X kept all my speaker settings.
If you are not keeping settings, make sure you restart after adjusting the speaker channels and do a -f -v boot. Going to leave the music playing to see if sound goes .... BUG: Sound volume adjustment slider does not work on the apple desktop but does work in iTunes |

I've Audigy 2 ZS and OSX does keep the settings (it just doesn't play from front L&R after reboot and continues to play from rear) I've done that channel mapping long back... Did you do the chanel mapping for both multichannel and stereo tabs in the Midi Utility? Well, the sound degrades for me. I just stopped itunes and came back to start it 5 minutes later, sound is all garbled coming out |

Yep, got it. Also, in first post is it correct that rear speakers only work? The issue is the channels are not properly mapped and I have 5.1 sound for system sounds. In iTunes music is only 2 channel, so it should not be coming out of 5.1 right? |

In iTunes music is only 2 channel, so it should not be coming out of 5.1 right? regardless of audio channels in a file, 2.0 shouldn't be playing from the rear but all (specially after setting up channel mappings in Audio midi.app). if its only happening with me, then I'll remove it off... Standard CT driver in XP plays 2.0 mp3 in all 5.1 not just front or just rear. From my side, Channel test signal noise comes correctly from all right speakers (ofcourse after remapping each of them). Even in kX for XP, I had to use kX Mixer to get all 5.1 working (thanks to Russ@DH for eplog workaround) EDIT: Bed time, will be back asap. |

Hey Guys,
I tried it with my Audigy4 OEM non Pro and it works! The Card is correctly recognized but the sound is very crispy...The hights in my sound are distortioned and it doesn't really sounds that good...Maybe its getting better with future releases. I'll keep the ball. My bigggest dream is that I can use the digital Output with my Coxial Output. I buyed an adaptor which gives me that outputs. I don't no if its possible but I would love to use my digital outputs with osx! Good work so far! Keep on rockin' dudes! |

Here are the results on a Creative Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Digital + Creative Inspire 5.1 Sound System :
The driver gets loaded by Mac OS X, alert tunes +iTunes songs + HDTV-rips sound work all, with the exception for the driver working normally only from time to time In just a few minutes, the sound starts "crackling", loading/unloading the driver doesn't help much. Although one do can configure the sound output and sound redirection, and that all channels do their work separately, "format"-choice menu is limited to 48 KHz and 8ch-16 bit, which is i think the thingy causing problems to this card specifically. Might be of course something completely other than this If you do not configure a multichannel audio output, but just a stereo, 5.1 output is still working under movies. But, what the hell, one can't expect miracles right at the first stage, right ? The KX group has done something i believe no one has expected, and even with all the mentioned problems, they do deserve the crown ! I am more than sure this initiative will come to its full success in the near future and wish the talented developers all the best in their lives and their work. I find this a GIANT achievement and a very big step forward ! Keep up the good work, support is at hand ! THANX A LOT !
