Can any one just run a quick spotlight search for such a file and hit me up if they see anything?

I am trying to get my webcam working, and according to the guys over at Macam, it should work with the built-in USB Video Class Driver.

When I do a spotlight search for it, I can't find the driver on my computer. So, 2 questions.

1. Where would the driver be located, so I can browse directly there and verify it is there, and...
2. Anyone have a copy I can DL from them if mine is missing?

My system: 10.4.8 with the newest Semthex kernel.

ICH8 works on anything with a 965 chipset. the Jmicron fix depends on if your board has the chipset.

the P965 Neo-F has the JMicron JMB361 Chipset. Is it the same as the pkg that has been posted in this thread?

This can also happen when you didn't choose the correct packages in the Customize window during the installation.

i loaded off the jas 10.4.6 dvd. i selected the jas patch and the sse3 intel patch. anything i missed? the installation works great in vmware,

Ok, make sure the HDD is plugged into SATA 1. Un-plug the CD/DVD drive.

Now enable the IDE Raid control... See if that works.

when i do that i get a System config file '/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found error. i thought i had eradicated that!

Which SATA port is your HDD plugged into? They use different controllers...

Also, are you trying to boot the DVD, or the OSx86 installation you did through VMWare?

i've tried every sata port on the computer. it's the installation through vmware on it's own dedicated hdd that i am trying to boot natively.

Ok, Integrated Peripherals - On-Chip ATA Devices - Primary/Secondary Master/Slave PIO: What are the options you have for it?

EDIT:

Hold on a minute, are you using a PATA IDE HDD? If so, it aint gonna work. You're going to need to convert it to a SATA drive.

no, it's a seagate sata hard drive.

for all of those options, i have the options of auto/mode 0/mode 1/mode 2/mode 3/mode 4

i can enable/disable PCI IDE BusMaster, On-Chip Secondary PCI IDE, and IDE/RAID control. I have tried disabling them all, to no avail.

Thanks for all your help!

Ok. In the BIOS, look for an option similar to "SATA Port 0 - 3 Native", and disable it. Then retry.

i can't find anything like that in my bios. the only thing that might be close to that is an option that says "on-chip secondary pci ide", i've tried disabling it but there are no changes.

basically there is not a sata option in sight. both of my sata hard drives (one for osx, one for xp) are showing up as the "ide third master" and "ide fourth master" respectively.

my bios is the Phoenix - AwardBIOS Version W7235IMS v 1.5

What motherboard do you have?

Also, boot with "-v" at the Darwin Boot Prompt, and see what errors come up. smile.gif

i have a MSI P965 neo-f mobo.

when i reboot in verbose mode it tells me "still waiting for root device"

thanks for your help. any more suggestions?

when i change the hdd to the raid ports, it is now booting to the gray apple logo screen, then giving me a "no" icon (circle with slash through it).

sound like progress, but what next?

i'll continue to research, but if anyone has any advice, please help.

thanks!

Plug your HDD into the RAID ports, and set it in your BIOS to use AHCI. Go here for more info: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...=26858&st=0

I can't find any AHCI options in my bios under "included peripherals". when i change the hdd to the raid ports, it is now booting to the gray apple logo screen, then giving me a "no" icon (circle with slash through it).

sound like progress, but what next?

i'll continue to research, but if anyone has any advice, please help.

great instructions, thanks!

my vmware install is working great, no problems rebooting or anything.

when i try to go native though, i get problems.

before i figure out a bootloader, i figured i would just change the hd boot order in my bios to the osx drive to make sure it was working natively.

when i do that, all i get is a /com.apple.Boot.plist not found error.

i am using a p965 based mobo, maybe that is the problem?

when i change the hd boot order back to xp, then i can go back to vmware and it boots osx no problem.

i'm confused. any suggestions?

i have a MSI p65 neo-f motherboard (i know, that can be a problem).

after plenty of problems trying to get the dvd drive to work, i finally decided to go the vmware route. it installed great, and now osx is sitting on a sata drive all by itself.

i can reboot windows over and over, and everytime i go into vmware it brings up osx with no problems.

i want to go native and install a bootloader, but the install will not load directly off the hard drive. so far all i have done is go into the bios and change the hard drive boot order to boot from the osx hd. when i restart after that, all i get is the /com.apple.Boot.plist not found error.

i don't understand why it does that when i know the installation works fine under vmware.

i have been searching the forums like crazy, and the wiki with nothing showing any glimpses of a solution.

is this just something that will never work because of my mobo? i can change the bios, and i can vmware into the osx installation and change anything there if it will solve the problem.

thanks!

i'm having the same problem. i have a MSI p65 neo-f.

i have loaded the 10.4.6 jas patched dvd and installed through vmware, no problems. (well, a few problems, but it is up and running now). when i try booting to the drive directly, then i get the boot.plist error.

any suggestions?

when i repair disk permissions, it seems like it works for a under a minute before it reverts back to it's original behavior. i think maybe the disk permissions it repairs are not sticking.

is there a command-line repair permissions command i can use at boot?

have you tried running disk utility, and repairing the permissions for the partition that your OS X install is on? dev.gif

yes, i've run disk utility off the install and off the install cd to repair permissions and verify the disk, it hasn't helped.

i am having some pretty strange problems. i am currently running 10.4.3, and everything was running great for about 2 weeks. recently i have been having problems writing to the hard drive (i think). here are my symptoms:
  • cannot create new users
  • cannot create new folders or files
  • mail keeps telling me "home folder is full" and forcing me to quit
  • itunes keeps telling me "cannot update intunes library"
  • when i try to download with safari, it gives me "error creating file"
  • when i use camino, if i close the program and try to open it again, it says "another copy of camino is already running"
  • when i try to boot to my install dvd to run disk utility or even reinstall, it just boots right back to tiger
usually these things are not a problem for the first 2 or 3 minutes after i boot up, but they come back every time. anyone have any clue what might be my problem? here are my specs:

amd 64 newcastle 3200+ (SSE2)
msi k8t motherboard
80 gig ata hardrive (system)
2 80 gig sata hardrives (1 empty, other has itunes music)
nvidia gforce2
512 mb ram

like i said, it was all working perfectly a couple of weeks ago. the only tweaking i have done has been with my boot.plist file trying to get my resolution up to 1280x1064, but that didn't work so i went back to default. thanks in advance!
