-pauℓzurrr I have a very similar amd setup to you on an oem board. NForce 430 Chipset (MCP61PM-HM) HP I would like to try this kernel. Would you be willing to share your /extra folder or dsdt? I'm getting a lot of ehci usb errors using modbin.test7. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Here's my other post with dsdt: Post Im using these kexts in my folder, AppleVIAATA.kext Disabler.kext fakesmc.kext IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext IOAudioFamily.kext NullCPUPowerManagement.kext OpenHaltRestart.kext OSvKernDSPLib.kext PlatformUUID.kext SuperNForceATA.kext VoodooHDA.kext If you want i could send them too you This is my dsdt:
dsdt.aml.zip ( 8.1K )
Number of downloads: 3pauℓzurrr, Do you know how the kernel achieves sleep, shutdown & restart? Is it blocking specific kexts to enable this? I would like to pinpoint how it's doing this, because once I enable graphics, I no longer have sleep, shutdown or restart. If I could better understand what the kernel is doing to enable sleep, shutdown & restart then perhaps I can better pinpoint why graphics breaks it. Thanks No sorry i'm not sure... You could try SleepEnabler.kext and see if that works? |

Sorry i can't speak german. But i got the same Chip and Burner. But this is a problem with the AppleNForceATA.kext which lacks SATA Burner support... So untill someone makes a proper kext, the only solution is to buy a usb burner i think... |

any Idea if/when on the fly CPUID patching will be implemented? Not sure, it wasn't ready yet for Snow Leopard. Might take some time before qoopz or someone else gets it working... also this kernel doesn't seem to work on my amd system. It keeps giving me some weird errors on verbose mode that i've never seen before and i left it for an hour and no boot. my specs amd athlon 3800+ X2 asus A8N-SLI 2 gigs ram What kind of errors do you get? Cause i can't boot the kernel too, i've been talking to qoopz but we couldn't find a solution yet. I'm not getting any KP or error... |

QUOTE Thats right folks. Its about time that most of guys waited for a SSE2 Kernel for both AMD and Intel. well this is it , qoopz and the great team behind have done most of the work to get the ball rolling , that is to get SSE2 support for Snow Leopard working and as well as AMD support. Not to mention that this kernel supports 64-bit for AMD processors and Intel processors with AMD64 and Intel€™s EM64T. It makes it possible to run 64-bit applications. Plus this kernel also supports Intel i5 processors However keep in mind that this kernel will not run in pure 64-bit kernelspace. Doesn€™t make sense to you ?. I€™ll explain in a jiffy €“ but first credit goes to qoopz for coming up with the kernel ! So what the hell are you trying to say €“ At first you said 64-bit but now you are saying its not€Please do explain It means that the kernel will work in 32-bit. You don€™t get pure 64-bit mode , as in your hardware drivers would be in 32-bit. However programs would take advantage of 64-bit mode and run natively in 64-bit if its capable of doing so. However be warned that 64-bit support is bit flaky due to the fact that these older processors lack SSSE3. For AMD systems , you€™ll notice that some programs will crash with 64-bit. As for Intel , you€™ll notice that QuickTime X will fail to play H.264 movies with 64-bit turned on. These are known issues. 64-bit support is disabled by default due to these reasons. To enable 64-bit , simply boot with €œ-force64€ (without quotes) to test out 64-bit functionalitly. AMD users with SSE2 and AMD64 should not attempt to run programs in 64-bit as its way to slow and it can cause lots of hiccups (hangs , kernel panic and such). Features of the Kernel :- * Bulit-in kernel blacklister €“ automatically blacklists bad kexts from loading. Therefore you don€™t need to use a disabler to disable it manually * bigger dmesg €“ Which translates to a larger log file so that you can troubleshoot easily * uuid patching/fix €“ Eliminates the need of UUID kext or specifying manually * fsb detection €“ Do I€™ve to say more on this * cpu cache detection €“ Again , I don€™t have to explain on this * reboot fix €“ Eliminates the need of OpenHaltRestart and fixes shutdown/reboot issue * sse3emu -SSE3 emulator for SSE2 processors . Bear in mind that most of the applications in Snow Leopard run fine with this emulator. However there are some reports of Safari and certain applications that may crash or behave weirdly. It will not be enabled if you have SSE3 For AMD users , it doesn€™t include on the fly CPUID patching €“ which means that you€™ll have to patch your CPUIDs manually by using a third party tool. You could read more about this in my Snow Leopard guide and in other AMD for Snow leopard installation guide. Original Link (Rapidshare) Mirror Link #1 (uploadpla.net) Mirror Link #2 (crimsy) Mirror Link #3 (MediaFire) Installation - To install simply rename your old mach_kernel as mach_backup and rename this as mach_kernel . If you€™re planning to install Snow Leopard. Do follow my installation guide as I€™ve updated it to reflect SSE2 changes or you may follow other guides ! Please do not forget to read the readme to know more details about this kernel Source Code - The source code (.dff) will be given upon request only. You may contact me directly via e-mail if you want the source. Kernel Name €“ Some of you may ask why the kernel is named as €œanappirtrvh€ . which means thx to: azi, nevermind, arya, prasys, p|astikman, inku, roisoft, tomas, radekg, Voodoo, and HiFi the slow tester. €“ Which is the first name of the beta testers who helped to test the kernel I would like to take this opportuntity to thank qoopz for releasing the kernel for the SSE2 AMD/Intel user community out there. without him , we would be still in darkness and I am guessing he is the guy that would get the ball rolling. Source Nawcom has made a update of the kernel for 10.6.2 So you can now use 10.2.0 kernel on AMD/P4 Installer Download here (also includes SleepEnabler.kext) Diff Patch here |

I'll write a short post here to respond to all the incoming messages i've received in my mailbox. 1) Yes, i will probabily update the driver for all the non-working chipsets and for the DVD burning error. 2) No, i don't know when this will happen, since i don't have much time to dedicate to this (read the end of the post about #1 and #2 answer). 3) No, i don't have time to write an "idiot-proof guide" to how the kext must be installed nor the time to write a self-install package. 4) As a developer, i can virtually write a driver for every hardware out there, or even fix any kernel problem, but don't expect me to do so. As you know, i don't have time nor resources for this. 5) I wrote the nforce fix as a challenge with myself, to be able to install and use leo on my machine. Curiosity (as well a good internet connection) is all you need to get started into driver developement, so stop asking and explore this world by your hands 6) Device/Vendor ID can be found in windows in the details tab of the hardware. They are shown as a string like this: "PCI\VEN_1111&DEV_2222", where 1111 is the vendor id and 2222 is the device id. Please, consult the online list of pci ids to understand if those are sata related. Now, regarding the AHCI compatible chipsets: There is a small chance that this driver could work with your ahci enabled chipset. I don't have any ahci enabled mobo, so i can't test this personally, but you can do it for me. First download the source code, then in the AppleNForceATARoot.cpp, add the following line: CODE is_ahci = false; after the following declaration: CODE bool is_ahci = (hwDeviceID == PCI_NFORCE_MCP65_S1 || hwDeviceID == PCI_NFORCE_MCP65_S2 || hwDeviceID == PCI_NFORCE_MCP65_S3 || hwDeviceID == PCI_NFORCE_MCP65_S3); If it works, then report it back on this thread, so other can use this solution. The last bad news: consider the developement of this driver dead. I really don't have time to manage this and don't want to make promises that wouldn't be respected. Maybe in the next immediate future i'll have some spare time and/or resources to work on this, but don't count on it. If someone want to hack with the current sources, i'll be glad to provide him/her all the info i have or, if needed, modify the first post to include any info/fix. That's all folks. MeDevil, could you please release the sources of the TEST kext? And maybe any other files you have... So we can look and maybe make it even better Thanks! Edit: I've also send a PM to MeDevil, let's see what comes out of it |

I am freaking out here. I have a SATA HD, and a SATA DVD Burner, the TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223F, and it will read discs, but it won't burn. I've tried replacing this kext but I am completely frustrated by now. I've been researching all over the place, but I just can't find anything that resembles a solution for this problem. Anyone knows what to do? I have a DFI Lanparty nF4 Ultra D, and AMD Athlon 64 3700+ as the processor. I'm dealing with the same device, could you please let me know if you figure something out. I think Bios might be an issue. Its a 'problem' with the kext, this can only be fixed by MeDevil. But since he's not working on it anymore... Edit: This only applies for SATA burners |

CODE Boot Think 1、 Who can use it? Boot-think is for those Hackingtosh users who want to boot Mac OS in standard PC machine and also other OS like XP, Vista, Win-7 or Linux in the same time. 2、 What is Boot Think? Boot-think is a multi OS bootloader for standard PC machine to enable multi OS boot management especially for Mac OS original kernel. 3、 Why use Boot Think? Boot-think is designed to enable the standard PC to boot the original Mac OS with GUI(graphic user interface). Windows OS is also supported. 4、 What you should know before you install Boot Think? a、Boot-think only support the Mac OS with original kernel in standard PC, the supporting configuration of the PC for Mac OS can be referred at http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.5.6. b、Boot-think can also support Mac OS with cracked kernel. c、Boot-think 2.1.0 supports to be installed into HFS+ (On MBR disk it must be major partition ) under Leopard or to be installed into NTFS under windows. 5、 Boot-Think Functions Function Description Support GUID and MBR partitions Support EFI partition installation Support HDD and USB drives USB drive is suggested. Support file boot Support multi OSs and HDDs Leopard, XP, Vista, Win7 and Ubuntu GUI Interface Support original Mac OS installation DVD to boot Support quick key Boot Management Show only Bootable Partitions Choose Default Partition Boot 6、 Boot Management Setup (only for having setting the default boot partition, except cfor the DVD ) Boot quick key Description c Leopard original DVD boot and installation Alt(Option) Go into Boot Management and choose the boot partition Shift Safe mode Ctrl(Command)+v Verbose mode Ctrl(Command)+s Single user mode (■ new or update) Key Description # b=x Select default bootable partition and x seconds countdown (0<= x <=32767) # b=~ Cancel default bootable partition # p=- Show only bootable partitions # p=+ Show more partitions # g=WxHxDEPTH Set the boot screen resolution g=1024x768x32 # g=~ Cancel the resolution setting 7、 Boot Think installation The latest version of Boot-think installation package can be downloaded from www.apple163.com. You can choose the partition during the installation process, the default selection is the root partition.(if Leopard Please only select HFS+) After choosing the installation partition, you can choose the installation mode: Three Installation Modes: 1) Choose Boot1h only. By this installation method, it only write the boot1h file into the HFS+ sector with this command line dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdiskXsY. Boot0 or fileboot can search and find the boot1h to continue boot your machine. 2) Choose Boot1h and Boot0 at the same time (Default installation mode). After the installation, the pc will boot into the boot management GUI by Boot-think so that you can choose the boot partition. By this installation method, it will write the boot0 file into the first leading sector of the HDD MBR with this command line fdisk f boot0 u y /dev/rdiskX no matter which partition method you are using(Fat32, NTFS or GUID) in addition of the method 1. 3) Choose the EFI. please cancel the selections of boot1h or boot0 manually. It will install the Boot-think into the EFI hidden partition of the GUID partition automatically. The EFI partition will be formated into HFS+ automatically. During the installation process you should select a partition on the GUID disk as an entry-partition for EFI, it will tell Boot-think which disk to install and it will be used to store some files for Boot-think. For example, the file update.command in entry-partition/Darwin/,it can update the Extensions.mkext in EFI partition automatically by putting *.kext files into entry-partition/Darwin/S/L/E/ or Extensions.mkext file into entry-partition/Darwin/S/L/. It is suggested to use the default installation method for the beginners. 8、 Usage After into the boot management GUI, you can choose the bootable partition with up/down or left/right arrow keys to boot the selective OS. You can input the command line for Mac OS after press the F8 according to the 6 table. 9、 Other suggestion 1) Boot-think only contains limited necessary drivers, you can add your own if you need other drivers. 2) Boot-think defaults use the file icoDefault for all partitions icons except cdrom. You could remove the underscore of the files inside /Darwin/rc/ like icoApple_, icoWindows_, icoLinux_, to get the Crystal picture as icons. You can also do some icons, if interested in. Please refer to www.apple163.com 10、 Uninstall To run the file Uninstall inside /Darwin/, the MBR and DBR will be restored. Reboot your computer. If OK, to delete the following files: boot, btldr, btldr.mbr and the folder Darwin. 2009-07-06 www.apple163.com |
