Here I will try to document my atempt to build a really fast Plex media server. Why would I want a really fast Plex Server? Well to be able to transcode all my movies on the fly to multiple Iphones running the Plex client. Currently my 2.4Ghz Mac Mini can only transcode 1 movie at a time and well my kids want to watch movies on thier iphones too. This server will need to perform the follwing functions:
1 x ($15.99) CPU COOL ROSEWILL| RCX-ZAIO-92
1 x ($109.99) CASE LIANLI| PC-Q11B
1 x ($139.99) MB ZOTAC H55ITX-C-E LGA1156
1 x ($79.99) PSU SILVERSTONE| ST45SF 450W
1 x ($159.99) MEM 4Gx2|GSKILL F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL
1 x ($99.99) VGA PNY VCGGT2405G5XEB GT240 512M
1 x ($134.99) HD 2T|WD SATA2 WD20EVDS
1 x ($24.99) BLUTOTH ADPT DLINK|DBT-120 2.1M
1 x ($229.99) i7 870 Intel Quad Core Processor
Wish me luck.
