Preface:
So I’ve built a few hackintoshes now to the point where I’ve a good idea what I’m doing. I’ve gone the distro way before as well as the vanilla way and I agree fully with the idea that vanilla is better. The problem with it being that I haven’t found a well explained start to finish guide of how to do it without a lot of googling and combining numerous different guides so my idea is to collate everything into one place for beginners to hopefully understand the process better and build better systems. A lot of the leg-work for this guide has been done by other people; although I’m rewriting most of it if anyone wants credit adding to something I’ve accidentally stolen from them just PM me. Throughout the guide I try to avoid scripts and utilities so you can learn what your doing. If you want a one-click install this is not the guide for you; having said that there is nothing technically complicated that isn’t clearly explained so don’t be scared off if you’re a rookie.

Have you ever wanted to know which version of bootloader is installed on your disk(s), had the need to dump your BIOS from OS X, just curious about your own system setup or been asked to provide your setup information to others when asking for assistance?
DarwinDumper is a useful collection of already available tools, and scripts wrapped in an application framework giving you a convenient method to quickly gather a system overview of your hack or Mac.
The system dumps are saved in an organised folder on your Desktop, along with an html report showing a complete overview. And rest assured that enabling the privacy option will mask the IOPlatformSerialNumber, IOPlatformUUID, IOMACAddress(s), USB Serial Number(s), SystemSerialNumber, serial-number, fmm-mobileme-token-FMM, MLB and ROM efi vars in the dumped files and report.

Many users wonder why we do not support tonymac's products here at InsanelyMac. The reason is that we believe he is a commercial spin-off of the OSx86 scene, and it's not in the spirit of OSx86 to have commercial intents with development.
These are the main reasons why we don't approve posting his material here (why he's a commercial spin-off):
1. His software is not open source. This is often confused because most people equate open source software with free software. This is definitely true, but it doesn't grasp the entire scope of open source; open source also includes releasing source code for the product, which tonymac fails to do. The OSx86 community believes everything should be open source. :)
2. The construction of his site is set up with emphasis on donation buttons and (affiliate) links to Amazon and Newegg, hinting at interests of profit.
3. The intent of gaining profits is basically confirmed by marketing his projects with suggestions of donation...

Use GitHab utility or other git tool to clone repository on your computer. Project includes sources, installer and compiled binaries. If you want manually install kexts they are located in "Binaries" folder. Installer package located in "Installer" folder.
Project will not be in existence without revolutional SMC emulator (fakesmc) by netkas. Special thanks to slice and user-sse2 for plugins. Big part of this project based on OpenHardwareMonitor opensource project by Michael Möller.

The Chameleon bootloader is an open source project and is released in accordance with the GPL v2 license. The source code can be found at the voodooprojects' forge where it can be downloaded and compiled.
If you are not comfortable downloading and compiling source code or you just want a quick method of obtaining the last binaries then there is a Buildbot dedicated to compiling and making ready up to date builds for download.
Chameleon can then be installed to your system using the Terminal and a lot of people choose this option as they have full control over what they're doing. However, other users prefer to have it automated and that is why the Chameleon package installer exists.
This topic is dedicated to the Chameleon package installer.
What can I install to?
• It can install to a hard drive or USB flash drive using either an MBR or hybrid GPT/MBR, and can install to both FAT32 and HFS+ partitions.
Note: Installation to the EFI system partition is currently disabled...

Slice is glad to present a new EFI bootloader.

Now version 2 rEFIt based.
It is open source based on different projects: Chameleon, rEFIt, XNU, VirtualBox. The main is EDK2 latest revision.

I want to present you updated RealtekR1000 driver. I added support for new chips according to linux's sources.
Now it supports RTL8168E,F/8111E,F.It works for me and works better then v2.0.6 from realtek.com.tw. Now I have no problems with sleep/wake. With native driver I sometimes lose LAN after wake.With this driver never.
I have a little problem. Network utility shows Link Speed = 0Can someone help me to resolve this Resolved!

They're about 70cm long, all-covered with black nylon braided sleeve, with the apple 18 pin connector in one end and standard ATX firewire, audio, USB, power button and led connectors in the other.
Each cable is tested before shipping. If your motherboard doesnt have on-board firewire (AKA IEEE 1394) ask me to include a ground jumper (it doesnt cost extra money). You'll need this jumper for the cable to work properly.
Z68 and Z77 Gigabyte boards will need an Audio Jumper to activate the front audio connector. Users with these boards please request it (it wont be included if you dont).
They cost 25€ a piece + 5€ for traceable shipping (30€ total). Cables are shipped from Spain.

Good day to all.
I wrote an utility to patch modern UEFI BIOSes from different vendors to prevent them from locking MSR 0xE2 and therefore make the system with patched BIOS compatible with native AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext.
It's tested on Acer (Phoenix), Asrock (AMI), ASUS (AMI), Dell (Phoenix and InsydeH2O), Elitegroup (AMI), Gigabyte (AMI), Lenovo (Phoenix), MSI (AMI), Toshiba (InsydeH2O), Sony (Phoenix), Samsung (Phoenix), Zotac (AMI) boards and it works without any issues.
For Dell users with Phoenix SCT 2.0 BIOSes I added an additional patch to unlock hidden BIOS setups.
This patch works on boards based on 5th, 6th and 7th series of Intel chipsets, so neither X79 nor NM10 or similar are supported.
It's a limitation of vanilla AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext and I can do nothing about that.
The utility is BSD-licensed and available on GitHub.

A New Driver for Realtek RTL8111
Due to the lack of an OS X driver that makes use of the advanced features of the Realtek RTL81111/8168 series I started a new project with the aim to create a state of the art driver that gets the most out of those NICs which can be found on virtually any cheap board on the market today. Based on Realtek's Linux driver (version 8.035.0) I have written a driver that is optimized for performance while making efficient use of system resources and keeping the CPU usage down under heavy load.
Key Features of the DriverSupports Realtek RTL8111/8168 B/C/D/E/F/G found on recent boards.
Support for multisegment packets relieving the network stack of unnecessary copy operations when assembling packets for transmission.

I've finally got a new XFX HD6850, not knowing all the work that I would need to put in for all the
connectors to work, but it was worth it.
It's a 1GiB model with red fans/connectors
Vendor ID: 0x1002
Device ID: 0x6739
It has the following connectors (according to the connector guide on XFX's website)
A top DVI connector is the only DVI with a VGA option (DVI-I) and dual Channel.
A HDMI connector.
A bottom DVI connector is a digital only (DVI-D).
A Display Port connector. I can't test this since I do not have any adapters or displays compatible with this protocol.
For 3 days I read forum threads and did some research and test on my card and, from what I tested, got this to work completely:
* Top DVI port in both Digital and Analog mode (DVI -> VGA passive adapter). Well call it DVI1
* Bottom DVI port. We'll call it DVI2.

SpeedStepper is a command-line tool that patches AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext to load on ASUS P67 boards.
It patches 10 distinct write operations to MSR 0xE2, that is locked by the ASUS BIOS.
Supported is only AICPUPM v142.6.0 (32/64bit).

This is only for those of you who are running Mountain Lion and getting this error since the Messages Beta for Lion ended on 12/14/12, but can still sign into other services like iCloud, App Store, etc.
To fix this, we need an added value to the NVRAM which as of the time of this writing, can only be done by using the latest revision (r980) of boot loader by Slice, dmazar and others:
To get the most recent installer package, we"ll use the tool created by STLVNUB: "Clover Grower" which can be downloaded here. You'll need Xcode's Command Line Tools installed, available for download in Xcode's preferences. The full list of instructions and options can be found here. Highly recommend reading them since every person's setup is different and there are many additional features you may want to explore. Only the basics here.
Once you've downloaded Clover Grower, open Terminal.app from /Application...

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up:
I was able to get my hands on a new motherboard from QUO Computers and test if out over the past few weeks. With this mother board you can boot up the installesd and complete an install with very little hassle. All of the hardware components are supported out of the box without additional drivers or dsdt edits (ethernet, thunderbolt, ivy bridge cpu/gpu).

I've been working on an open source USB 3.0 driver for OS X for a while, and decided it's stable enough to be published.
Implements USB SuperSpeed and HighSpeed root hubs, and accepts SS, HS, FS, LS devices. I've benchmarked a SS drive at the highest speed it's capable of with it.
If you benchmark drives, use block sizes of 128Kbyte or higher power of two - as those are optimal.
I've fixed the issue with interrupters. MSI is used on all chips except FL1000, which is known to have problems with it. Uses pin interrupt on FL1000.
Sleep Issue - Attempts to enable PME on all chips. If PME is supported, uses XHCI suspend/resume. If resume fails, resets the xHC and lets IOUSBFamily reenumerate devices (this causes disconnection messages.) If PME is not supported, reverts to shutdown/reset which will always reenumerate.
If PME is not supported, there'll be a message in syslog "xHC will be unloaded across sleep".
