Beware: I lost sound after 10.6.1 upgrade. MB=GA-EP43-DS3L, has ALC888 sound chip. Everything was working on 10.6. Especially I like the fast booting and shutdown compared to 10.5. Also everything seems 64 bit!!! Followed the:

[GUIDE]Retail Snow Leopard 10.6 on a GA EP45-UD3R [except for sound patch as carefully noted in Guide] did not do any dsdt patching, just kexts and all steps between 1..6. Then the system needed 2-3 reboots after some panic and hanging before fixing permissions and running all kext tools. From then on it took off.

One minor remains: Disk utility > Repair permissions : Error: No installer packages can be found on disk; used “Kext Utility” instead.

Does anyone know if I will have any chance running this with the following rig?

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4ghz MOBO: ASUS P5K-E Premium/WiFi-AP GFX: XFX ATI Radeon HD 4890 XT 1024MB Memory: OCZ 8gb (4 x 2gb) DDR2 ram @ 800mhz.

I notice everyone seems to use nvidia cards, so I do have my old one: ‘512mb nvidia 7900 gto’ but I would rather get confirmation from someone that is using a new 4800 series ATI card.

Cheers Rich

I upgraded my MacBook and iMac and its working perfectly. Why don’t you guys donate Apple with buying their products? Atleast have an original copy of Snow Leopard, it’s only 30 dollars! Cummon….
